Thanks for sharing this. I'd read in one of King's books where he relayed the story of how Getting It On was rejected but I'd never seen Bill Thompson's version of the story. Nicely corroborated, of course, in a letter. Thompson seems like he was a good guy.They're not a purchase but I wanted to share these two photos of rare King-ly things. I highly suggest that you go on over to Lilja's website and read the article(s) with Bill Thompson, who was King's first editor at Doubleday. I didn't know that if not for one little tiny coincidence we probably wouldn't be reading Stephen King books today. Well, I shouldn't say that as his talent would have eventually been noticed and he would get published but it probably wouldn't have been with Doubleday and would have maybe been a few years down the road.
