About the typewriter ?

Hi i just finished the book "Misery". I have one question : can you tell me why typewriter loose first the letter "N" then "T" and finally "E". Stephen King didnt explain that fact in the book. Maybe they is a especially signification ? Like N = Newborn, T = Transition and E= end ?
May you help me to anwer to my question ? Thanks you.

They are some of the most commonly used letters in the English alphabet, and so get a lot of work on a keyboard. If the machine was failing, it makes sense for the most used characters to fail first :)

I believe the failing typewriter is based on something King personally experienced, so there may not be a rational high-level explanation for it. It just happened that way. Perhaps manufacturing flaws, rather than pure wear.
