I'll be taking this Monday and Tuesday off!! The local SNAP folks will be coming out to convert my 20 year old electric forced air furnace and my 5 year old water tank over to gas. I can't wait!! The local power company installed the gas meter about a week and a half ago. That cost over $1,600 to do but since I qualified last October as 'low income' (I was out of work for 5 months after I quit my job in June of 2016 and they base your income on the previous year from when you apply for weatherization help) none of the work will cost me anything out of pocket. It's all FREE!! I can't wait to see my electric bill shrink. :D
JACKPOT! Two work days off and free upgrades at home. I miss you too. Do try to make it over to the weekend board. I took last Tuesday off to clean house. I'm a rebel.

So I am off today and also yesterday. I used my two floating holidays that work gives us so I could be home when SNAP converts me over from an electric forced-air furnace and hot water tank to gas. They installed the furnace yesterday and are here changing out the hot water tank. I can already tell the difference in the heat from the furnace. Everything in the house doesn't feel like it's got a chill to it anymore. I was told that gas heat is a warmer heat, almost a radiant heat and it seems to be true. I don't feel the cold rising up from the floor anymore either. The cat does not like the new furnace as it's either (a) too loud, (b) blows the air too hard or (c) smells funny (new furnace smell). She kept me up pretty much all night crying to be let outside (freezing temps). Or maybe she's suffering from the post-full moon effects. She even jumped up on my bed a few times during the night, which she has never done, meowing the whole time. Oh well, at least I will have a brand new energy efficient furnace and hot water tank.

Hopefully the cat will adjust as time goes on. We have a natural gas furnace - only thing is it gets very dry here in winter and the humidifier attached to it that used to work now does not (it used to rotate and had a reservoir for water).

Maybe I should get some furnace repair people in to have that looked at :eyebrow::hmm:

Glad your home with kitty-- helps make for security. Full moon plays a big part on cats. Also the smell of new air-- Mine freak when first heat of the season is turned on--- very sensitive to smells/ they do the same when AC . Anything new-- have one that sees monsters- Tv picture, reflection in window.... Hope kitty adjust soon. Lots of extra love.

I'll end up saving money by not having to buy so much moisturizer! :witless::laugh:

 My house is at 16% humidity. Of course that's pretty low because the switch plate that the temp/humidity gauge is on is located right above one of the floor vents for the heat. But, my house is pretty dry inside all of the time.
Do you have many plants? I have quite a few in my living area on the main floor plus some on the landing going upstairs. None in the upstairs bedrooms

Your cats don't bother the plants? I would love to have some but I think I would be constantly cleaning up soil, with my cats.
No, they didn't bother my plants. I did have one a long time ago that did. In order to stop him from bothering them, I figured out what particular cologne I had that he liked the least (seeing which one got the worst reaction when I held the bottle in front of his nose) and sprayed some of it on the outside of the pots. He never bothered them again. Try it, it works!
