There's still a way off from September but does anyone have any guesses as to what bands will be featured in part two?

Part one had a pretty solid soundtrack. Not only did it have the great instrumental soundtrack by Benjamin, it also featured great songs like 'Love Removal Machine' by The Cult, 'Six Different Ways' by the Cure, 'Antisocial' by Anthrax, and 'Dear God' by XTC, as well as other bands. However, part one takes place in the 80's when those bands were in their glory days and part 2 will take place in the 2000's. I'm hoping that instead of them using newer acts, they stick with the bands they liked as kids but use the newer songs by the bands.

Right now my only guess is maybe something new from The Cure since they're releasing their new album soon, their first in nearly 11 years, the longest they've ever gone in between albums. I would love to hear something new from the Cult but I won't hold my breath. I wouldn't mind some newer talent like Halestorm or even The Pretty Reckless but again, not going to hold my breath.

Anyone else have any guesses?

Whoever hand picked the songs for the Crow helped the film because the soundtrack put it over even more, same goes for The Lost Boys.

Gotta wait until July to find out what bands they use on Stranger Things, could be hit or miss at this point since now they'll be in 1985. It'll probably be a mix of 80's metal and new wave again but who knows.

According to IMDB, Benjamin in back for IT: Chapter 2, but I don't know if its been confirmed or not.

I doubt they'd go with a different person for the instrumental score, especially since the score did quite well. The bands on the other hand, who knows. I'm still trying to figure out what bands they'll use in Season 3 of Stranger Things, still thinking Van Halen, Depeche Mode, The Cure, and other new wave and hard rock bands.

Maybe it'll be 90's music. The 90's are in fashion right now. If they let Richie's character have any influence
seeing as he's a Professional DJ
it's likely that those hits could have been the songs Records Tozier and the rest of the Losers would have bonded with in their teens.

The 90's was a mess genre wise since there wasn't a dominant one, it was just a mix of everything from alt rock to hip hop to goth to industry to metal to EBM. However, I could see Underworld being used since they were popular among DJ"s in California like Richie. As long as it isn't the 90's music from Clerks or the American Pie films, I'm down... I think.

I was thinking more like guitar music, stuff that's lowest common denominator that everyone would remember having heard in their lives at the time. For me that would have been Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer, Green Day, and so on. The stuff that would have dominated MTv during the first half of the 90's. Underworld wasn't on my radar until the Trainspotting soundtrack but I never heard them on the radio in my podunk town. I'm a big fan of the way they structure their songs, though. I'd be thrilled if Richie was into Breakbeat Hardcore and Jungle but I won't be holding my breath. I'm gonna predict a Boyz II Men song in there somewhere lol.

It will probably come down to licensing, they'll go with music that isn't as expensive to license, which is what they pretty much did with the first chapter. New Kids, The Cult, The Cure, and Anthrax, not too pricey licensing wise but Nirvana, that would cost a huge chunk of change since Nirvana is still iconic. But time will tell.. we have quite awhile to go. I imagine IMDB will have a clue on what will be used by August though.
