I have been watching the miniseries for 11/22/63 and I am very disappointed by the way it is not very true to the novel, I'm usually okay when movies don't have every single detail because that is impossible with a book as long as 11/22/63, but when they take things that are important and add things that aren't and don't add anything real to the story that's what gets me angry.

An example of this is at the dance where Jake and Sadie were chaperoning together. they didn't dance to In the Mood by Glenn Miller, instead they danced to some song that nobody will recognise later if they do the harmonies of the past (Which I doubt they will at this point)

Also they added a character that wasn't in the book at all, some guy named bill that is now helping Jake in his mission to stop Oswald.

He was in the book. Bill Turcotte, an older guy who believed Frank Dunning killed his sister and was out for revenge. He died of a heart attack in the book. They made him younger and Jake's helper in the miniseries.

Someone for some reason decided all these changes were necessary I guess. I've already kind of lost interest in the show, and may or may not continue watching it, but if you do, try to take Achtung's advice.

I have read every SK book ever written and seen every movie adaption of them ever made. I have yet to see one that sticks exactly to the book. There are always changes, even if they are minor, such as changing a song. Most times they have to make changes unless they plan to make a 10 hour movie since the books are usually quite long.

A book is a book and a movie is a movie, and never will the twain walk side by side. Two very different beasties. One can either separate the two and enjoy each for what it is, or move along, I guess :)

I disagree with that completely. I have read many books and have seen several movies that remained true to the book. Whoever put this crap together as a movie, must have known that the fans would have been watching it. In my opinion this is an insult to King's great book. This was definately one of the best books I have ever read in my life as it contains both things of interest to me. Time travel and the Kennedy assassination. I can hardly watch it. It is a waste of time and money. In my opinion there was no need to change as much as they did. I highly recommend others to read the book as it will keep you entrenched. This mini series is a joke and an insult to the great writing of Mr. King.

Well, this is a mini-series so your 10 hour movie argument does not hold water because they had the time. Even from the get go they changed the year and George's name. Do you mean to tell me this was done to conserve time as well? This series is pure CRAP!!!

I kind of agree but maybe not quite so strongly. I remember being so amped for this series and now I haven't even bothered to watch Monday's episode although if I get bored enough I will eventually.

Hey, if you REALLY want to get ticked off about a movie adaptation, and have a Stephen King tie-in as well....

Go actually READ the Wizard of Oz.
I've just been trying to find Dorothy's age from the book, to no avail. But I'm pretty sure she was nowhere near the 16 years like Garland. My daughter read it recently, maybe I'll give it a go. Just noticed in 'Ozma of Oz' (filmed as 'Return to Oz') that the metal man is called 'Tik Tok'. Another easter egg.

I'm gonna say 8 or 9, although I don't remember. I haven't gone past the second Oz book, but probably will sometime soon. It's on the read-aloud list, anyway; we just had others come up.
