I'm hoping Ms. Mod can tell me if this is genuine. I found it at a used bookstore. It breaks my heart because someone must have died and their family just unloaded it with a bunch of other books. The inscription is so specific it seems like Mr. King may have known them better and might remember this. The autographed picture was also inside the book.

Maybe the original book owner drove Steve around Dallas and Houston when he was on a book tour?

That is what I am hoping actually, because of the personalized inscription and the commentary about a movie on the autographed photo. The person might have been the assigned person to them when they came down to Texas way back in 79 for the signing, or for all I know it belonged to a friend. And of course, it might just be an elaborate forgery. The problem is that it isn't on Ebay. It was just on the shelf of a Half Price Books which indicates to me it came in a big box of books all at once and just got purchased and put on the shelf bulk. That seems a tragedy to me. Things like this are heirlooms, or at least they should be. There was a 1st Edition of Carrie there too (not signed) but also in excellent shape. I collect these 1st Editions in the hope (when I can find them) that I might get the Taleslinger to inscribe a few for me someday to pass down myself.

I think the autograph on the pic is from Francis Ford Coppolla, not King. Maybe the King pic was all that they had in their possession when they met Coppolla? You got two for the price of one! Now that I have looked closely at the signed pic it does look more like King's writing. How much did you pay for the copy of Carrie?

I paid $7.00 for the Carrie. Half Price Books is a store that buys books back from people and then puts them on their shelves generally at or around half the cover price. The books have to be in a minimum decent condition for them to take them in and put them on the shelf. Quite often the books are in good to excellent condition. I'm full aware of the actual value of the various 1st Editions I pick up (and I make the rounds to all the Half Price Books in a hundred mile radius) always watching for another.

I've picked up a couple of books signed by Straub there too just on the regular shelf. In fairness, sometimes Half Price Books notices the book is signed and then they put it in a special area and charge more for it. They just seem to miss as many as they notice. I know some of you are looking for 1st Editions and I'll be happy to help out.

I compared it to the signature tattooed on my wrist and it looks pretty real to me! And I know that one is real because it was taken from a signature he did right in front of me. So that's my very non-scientific analysis.

I'm looking for all of these:

So if you help me find one I would be an insanely happy girl!!!!

I'll see what I can do. If/when I find some more of those, you will have to reimburse me for the purchase and pay the shipping. We are just fans here. I don't collect the books to sell them for a profit (signed or otherwise). I'm pretty sure there is a Salem's Lot at available still at one of the Half Prices. I didn't grab it because I already have the number I need. I'll go back and look for that one again by Thursday.

I hope this is real. I know at my Half Price Books and other bargain book stores, they would have to price it out. All the books are not the same price. Wouldn't they see this? With book sellers on the internet and even a popular shows like Pawn Stars and American Pickers, etc. it's hard to believe no one saw this sooner. I know the one store owner at the Bargain book store I go to actually keeps what he wants and sells them. Again, hope it's rare find and it was overlooked. :D
