Holly: Don't sweat it (too much). A little bit of fire under one's feet does help the process. These things would not be regularly done were they not fun, and they are...even when you want to pull out your hair over one damn sentence.

Although the various Stories go "on the record" here, few people other than Our Gang take a peek. Steve may-or-may-not, but he's certainly not going to smite anyone with his Holy Smiting Smiter of Doom.

I yearn to steal this line :)

I'm in.

One question: do we have a word limit going in?

Yes. There's a word limit, it's done round Robin (one person starts the story, the next person picks it up and writes the next chapter, and so on until it's finished), and the word limit depends on the number of participants. There's also a time limit, usually three days, sometimes more if there are people who've dropped from the queue. The story closer always has more time (and words) - I make sure that position is protected with lots of leeway, because they're sewing up the loose plot and sub-plot lines.

You get more wordage with fewer writers, less with more. I'm no Word Nazi, though. I won't make people stickstickstick to a certain amount, especially not if their point needs a few more lines (or less) to have impact.

Someone recently posted a loose premise. Not sure the thread. It was useful, because it got us going, but I'm going to have to toss out a full on veto. It was something about a competition of writers on a fansite...and I'd like someone to write that well...but The SKMB stories have never been about competition. Sure, some egos get a readjustment, but (as far as I recall) they have been a collaborative thing.

Some people stand up when others diminish. Some folks write in their third dang language. Sometimes some pure vanilla writer makes sense of the chaos that came before and ties it all together before handing it off to some Rockstar who fails.

No competition. We are inclusive. If you've made it this far, you've already won.

Everyone above duly noted. We've got two more days of sign-ups before we have a core group....and you all have done this enough times to know there will be lateniks as well as drop-outs.

Hope everyone is well and having a lovely Sunday/Monday (dateline, doncha know...shout-outs as ever to those west of the Pacific Imaginary)! :watermelon:
