I wanted to read the whole story before commenting, I'm just blown away.

To all the writers, this story is one of the best things to ever come from the collective soul of the SKMB. It has everything a true member of the SKMB could hope for, it's all just....there. The humor, the story line, the settings, and OH THE CHARACTERS!....LOL. This is a story that, if we could put it in a time capsule and bury it for the ages, we could all be proud of how entertained, and probably a bit confused, the finders of this wonderful memento would be upon reading it. You all deserve so much credit for the all the great details, the weirdness, the humor, and just the out and out SKMB-NESS of the the whole project. Thank you all for standing true and telling a tale we can all be proud of. This place brings out the best of us and makes us one from many. DJ, Flake, all the authors, you did real good. We say thank ya.

"By God, Woodrow; it's been one hell of a party."

Oh my gosh. You made me cry with this.

I say "ditto". Still reading thru the comments and catching up but I have finished the story and will add my compliments soon!

I'm only beginning to process, (I plod slowly, never a glib tongue, which is a bit of a drawback for radio) but what I see so far are DJ coming in like a literary Rambo, blasting the story beautifully everywhere, then my own and hoss's possible survival, I'd like to think, a result of being rescued by, true to his name, Swiftdog 2.0 .....

My apologies for just getting to this. Been a busy fall/winter, and with the limited schedule of the board (I have to get to that other board soon before this one closes), I haven't had a comfortable chance to post (thought I wasn't going to be able to do this today, in fact).

But I wanted to be sure to thank all the writers for the 2019 Halloween tale The Biggest Con. I had read it near the time of its debut. It is an excellent sendoff for the Halloween-story series on this iteration of the King community. (I'm presuming there is a chance the tradition will continue on the alternate board.)

One thing I want to say about it - and I must be brief, as I may want to try to get to one other post here on the board before it closes for the day - is that it really equaled the pressure of being the last one, and in fact was stronger than that pressure. I had an idea in my head of how the last story could have gone, but I enjoyed the way it actually was done a lot better. My idea was fine, but this was more entertaining and suitable. I particularly found the use of actual board members in the narrative quite fun (and thanks again for mentioning me!).

Another quick point to make: a lot of it was funny too! It's actually difficult to write funny stuff in a narrative that is meant overall to be somewhat serious (in the sense that it is meant to be straight and not slapstick, I don't mean that this was meant to be too literary/somber), but an efficient balance was struck. The use of the community structure and the King-Kon theme came off well and very entertaining. And whenever you start with a book-signing in a bookstore, you've got me - I know there are some knocks against it, but I love stories about writers. Always have. (King can never write too many of those, no matter what the critics say.)

I'll stop there, but know that the entire story was a great read. I've said this in the past, but I'll say again that there are good writers here. Hopefully many are published and we just don't know about it. For those who aren't published, give it a go...it's easy enough these days to send off an electronic submission.

I really enjoyed reading this and appreciate you taking the time to comment. I feel you really got what we were going for and how much it all meant to us and how big a deal it is with this MB moving on.
Thank you for sharing this.

Just looking at this again. Man, I'm going to miss our stories. Maybe you playground people can keep the tradition going?
Like I said before, "of course!"
But we're need experienced wranglers and ramrods.
People who have done it before, and who are tech savvy.
Good Commander osnafrank can't do everything. :)

Not badgering you or anyone else to come join the Playground. :)
Just saying that you and everyone else is needed. And wanted.
