I just started The Stand but i almost bought Dolores Claiborne. I have heard very mixed things on Lisey's Story, is there a reason why i have heard some fans LOVE the book and consider it one of his greatest while others feel it is one of his weakest?
Personal opinion re Lisey's Story- I think it is life related. To be read in a period of one's life when one can relate to the characters and what life has dealt them. Many new King words to learn. It is a love it or leave it book, however many on a re read, at a different period of time changed the leave to like.

I'm leaning toward Lisey's Story but I did want to test the waters. If everyone is pumped for Needful Things, that's all right with me, too. The events in that book begin in October, wouldn't it be interesting to read it in October. Good idea? Does everyone need a break? Maybe we can do another book in January. Spit balling...watch out now. :smug:

you could wait until next week, see what the poll shows. If a tie, narrow the field to those and pick the winner.
Here is an article by SK re Lisey's Story-- I think it speaks volumes for a read at some point.

...I've always been conflicted over LS.....love it, just not sure I "get" the ummmmm......"alternate reality".......could use other folk's input.....
Yeah, the first time I read it, it took me a minute to figure out what was going on. After I realized there were layers to the chronology it became easier to follow the pattern. So much of it is memories and Boo'ya Moon stuff, like you said.

Another thing: Sunny had a great idea. She suggested saving Lisey's Story for our last official book discussion to honor John Dagliesh and his wife Anne. I didn't know them but I know they were a huge part of this group and I have no problem tipping our hats to them with this tribute if it's okay with you guys. I welcome your opinions on this. Thankee.

I was totally confused
Took me a long while to figure out what was going on.
The part i started to like the story was
when Lisey liberated her sister amanda, i really liked amanda

And I like that rhyme Scott came up with for Lisey and her sisters:
One flew north, one flew south, one couldn't shut her ever loving mouth!
