I don't know... if it isn't new, I don't remember it. I don't get it :(

In previous years you got voted out at tribal and went to Exile. Once there you had to win a challenge against another voted out member to stay in the game. Right? This time you are just gone for good after tribal? No Exile Island?

Maybe it is just supposed to serve as a disconnect between whoever is at Exile and the rest of the tribe? Get those backstabbing juices flowing. I don't know either, maybe it will be different every time!

I've never understood why players want to win those prize trips away from their tribes. Is a steak dinner really worth giving the other players a chance to agree to vote you off?

I'm glad it doesn't appear that Val's and the other fireman's exile has hurt them.

I'm glad you mentioned Exile Island, nbnp. I'm not sure I get it either. You get voted off, but not to Exile Isle, but forever. That's new isn't it?

It was first introduced in season 15 (Survivor: Exile Island (Panama) :)) But I do get that and Redemption Island confused LOL. I find Exile Island unnecessary, imo, so I don't know why they brought it back, maybe for the "twist" factor. I didn't like Redemption Island, either! I'm with OoO--I like the "traditional" Survivor vote off--go to tribal, you're voted off, YOU ARE GONE, BYE. The tribe has spoken!

I don't have a favorite. Too early to tell for me. I usually decide within a couple of episodes to see how everyone plays/strategizes.

I don't think I watched Panama. How often were players sent to Exile Island?

Here, there and everywhere.
I was also happy to see an annoying person sent home first! Next, we need to get rid of the woman who wears her buff like a tube top - mama doesn't have time for exhibitionists.

First impressions: I like Jeremy, Josh and Keith.

I'm curious about the thing Dale removed from the cover on the water - is it an idol?

As someone mentioned above, I'm glad Val and Keith were welcomed back from Exile. It would have been unfair to see them go.

And Jeff Probst is the coolest, riding on the side of the helicopter the way he did! I've liked him since "Rock and Roll Jeopardy," and I hope he never leaves "Survivor."

Isn't he the producer of the show? I don't think he CAN leave.

I'm curious about that too :umm: Does anyone have any guesses as to what it might be?

I do think it was an idol, because Val got that clue at Exile, and then had no luck finding anything (that we saw) at the well.

Didn't they have that last season? I think it was Tony who had it and whenever he mentioned it, I always laughed because he took it so seriously!

yeah... I don't think Tony would have won if he hadn't convinced the others that his special immunity idol could be played at any time - even at the last vote. I didn't like Tony but I guess he was pretty smart :(
