And let me be clear here. not postapocalyptic. that is novels that take place some time after the apocalyptic event has occurred. An apocalyptic novel takes, at least part of it, place when the apocalyptic event occur. Dystopic novels for instance are often postapocalyptic. Just wanted to make clear what i mean with my term. This is my picks. I'm sure i have forgotten someones favourite so bring it forward.

1. The Stand - Stephen King
2. Swan Song - Robert McCammon
3. Where Once The Sweet Birds Sang - Kate Wilhelm
4. When Grass Dies - John Christopher
5. The Passage - Justin Cronin

I had others in Mind like The Road by Cormac McCarthy and The Drowned World by J.G. Ballard but decided that these 5 are good.

The Stand- S.K.
Swan Song- Robert McCammon
Fight Club- Chuck Palahniuk (I'll argue that what happens at the end of the book is the beginning of the end)
The Fireman- Joe Hill
The Passage- Justin Cronin

Dark Advent by Brian Hodge is an often overlooked one. Very good book. I don't recall enough about the plot to remember if it qualifies under the definition of an "apocalyptic" novel but a very good read if you like Swan Song and The Stand.
Neither do I. Havent even heard about it. Thanks for the tip!
