A year or so after reading The Talisman and immediately after reading Black House, I had a bit of a realization regarding the titular Talisman - Could it be, that it's in fact one of Maerlyn's shiny powerful baubles, a Wizard's Glass, a Bend O' The Rainbow, et cetera? (From Dark Tower, of course.) Given how interconnected all of these stories are (and how close the Jack Sawyer books in particular seem to be connected) it wouldn't surprise me at all if this were true. Still, given the usually malevolent intent of the Wizard's Rainbow, if the Grapefruit and Black Thirteen were any indication, I find it strange that one would so kindly heal Jack's mother like that. (Perhaps his memory?)

So consider this a direct question to King (and I suppose Straub if he'd know): Is or is not the Talisman one of Maerlyn's Rainbow? As a Tower junkie I don't think I'm gonna be able to sleep until I know for sure.

Kind regards,

Love this quote from Tommyknockers that a reader led me to the other day: If you didn't know for sure, it was okay to imagine--until and unless you found out different.

ReusedNPC...is that like recycled internet? I've no clue, look at me, do I look like I have a clue? Anyway, you're one among many who have wondered the same thing, i know i have, and others to follow will wonder the same thing. It's okay to imagine. I say yes. Someone else might say no. If nothing else, a kind of twinner, which leads us back to your original conclusion. so, yep. I really enjoyed Talisman

Tis too much thinking ye would be doing. LOL Actually, the pretty glamour reminds me more of The Wind Through The Keyhold...especially the bit about Maerlyn or Merlin. If you did not read it yet, then I suggest you get to it promto....more of the Tower family.

They seem related, for sure. On balance, I think the Talisman is a lesser object than Maerlyn's Rainbow, but in the same "family". Or, maybe it IS one of the
Rainbow, but of much lesser power than the ones we see in DT. It was completely used up in healing Lily, and I don't think that would have happened with the pink one (not that IT would heal anyone, do ya ken).
