I'm being interviewed on radio tonight!

Okay, so it's not quite like Stephen King chatting with Terry Gross (which was a great interview, by the way). It's a local public radio station that hosts a series called "Between the Pages" featuring local writers. Tonight, they're interviewing local author Amy Mihaly and me.

How did I achieve the prominence to draw this level of attention, you may ask? Well, the host of the show put out a call on a Colorado Writers/Publishers Facebook group that I'm in, and I answered, and they accepted.

I can never quite get the linking protocol here - it's my brain deficiency, not a problem with the site rules - so I'll play it safe and not link. But it will be tonight on KRFC, 88.9, Fort Collins, Colorado, at 6:00 p.m. local time. They have a website, and I believe may even have a "listen" button if anyone's so inclined.

I'm kinda excited. Maybe there is a listenership of eight people total, but to me, this is a Big Deal.

Hurray! He mentions Stephen King!

Yes. The first part (which I linked to) was the roundtable among the host, Amy (the other writer), and me.

The next segment went to Amy, focusing mostly on her.

The third and final segment went mostly to me.

If the host posts the discrete segments, I'll be sure to repost here. Other than social media announcements, this interview was actually my very first public marketing foray.

And it was a pleasure to mention Gracious Host as an influence in writing! It wasn't a question I was prepared for (and it was further expounded upon in the more focused segment), but I like science, so I have to try to make the stories believable; To Kill A Mockingbird changed my life (no, really, it did), so I have to have some sort of social conscience; and Mr. King, with what I described as an flowing narrative style, combining colloquialisms and actual proper writing, gave me insights on how to speak to the reader.

Once again, thank you for sharing your adventure with us. Just glad you are safe. Hope the cked baggage fee isn't too great-- Tee shirts galore! Sounds awesome. How nice about the Japanese family. You have a good aura and apparently they sensed it. :smile2:

In some news of late, my national trade journal (Journal of Court Reporting) took my writing about working in Nigeria and made it this month's cover article.

I realize to you guys, this is akin to saying, "Hey, I got an announcement in the plumbing newsletter," but I really enjoy my craft and colleagues, and I'm pretty stoked.

Now, now. Plumbing is as noble a profession as any. Although a story about working in Nigeria is probably a lot more aesthetically pleasing...

Congratulations on your achievement! I know how good it feels; I write a column for a veterinary magazine, and it's the only thing that gives me pride and motivation while I try to find readers for my rather quirky self-published fiction.

I looked for the article online but found nothing about Nigeria in the June issue of JCR. Do you have a link?
