Obviously, you've never had the experience of watching the Tar Heels lose with me......I'm quite animated and vocal.....I've even coined new words and phrases. The dog can tell when I'm watching basketball, and hides under my daughter's bed.

It sounds like we both react cool and calm when our home team loses....lol

Even though he's a bigger fan than I am, the BF doesn't even like to watch the Tar Heels with me

Well, who knows? Maybe future father-in-law knows this - but is he from "the old country" or was he born in USA?

He was born here but his parents are originally from Ireland so he wasn't born too far from the Blarney Stone...is that a thing? I don't know, I'm not really in touch with my family roots, most were criminals or hanged for cattle rustling, killed in saloon brawls, pillar of society types...lol

I'm pretty sure there really is a blarney stone - legend is that if you kiss it, you'll get "the gift of gab"

Thank you VERY VERY much for the well wishes. I'm nervous but we've been very busy all week so it's gone by very fast. Tamar has had a few things go south, just minor details but we've been ironing them out as we go, all in all we've worked together very well this week and by that I mean I've kept my head down and did whatever I've been told to the letter...lol no rehearsal or dinner, her wedding party members are coming in from several different place around the region, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, so not really able to get everyone here all at one time so we're going to have to wing that part...guess we'll see.

Good for you on doing what you're told!! Don't sweat the minor mess-ups! Those are the things that you will laugh and remember later! We'll have been married 23 year this April and we still talk about the things that didn't go exactly right: a mix up with the florist meant we had to get different flowers, a mix up with the booze meant my dad and his friends had to buy beer and champagne at several different stores, we left the salon later than planned and had to floor it past my hubby-to-be with my maids of honor waving and covering up the windows while I was driving from a crouched position, just able to see over the steering wheel! ;-D All great memories!!

Before I take off for the weekend, I just wanted to tell everyone how very much we both appreciate all the well wishes you've all given us over the last few months. Not one of them is taken for granted, just like I don't take Tamara or any of you for granted. All of you are such wonderful friends, all part of such a wonderful place here on the SKMB and I wish all of you could be there as I start this new chapter in my life. I'll be thinking about all of you, how much you mean to me, how supportive you've all been as I've tried to pick up the pieces and start over, and how nice it is to be able to come here and talk about our favorite author's books, our lives, our hopes, our dreams, our problems, our jokes, or just give a kind word to someone who's having a bad day. Little things like that have meant so much to me over the last few years and I do and always will appreciate everyone's well wishes during the time I've been with Tamara. So, in closing, thank you to everyone here at the SKMB for everything, we have a special place here made up of people who share a very special common bond. We have the best selling author of ours or any other generation who thinks enough of his fans to keep this site up and running. We have Ms. Mod and her motley band;;D of moderators that do a wonderful job of keeping the SKMB the best place to palaver and I say thank you to all of them for all their hard work.
I hope everyone has a good weekend, I'm off to set up chairs, tables, go get my tux, and do any additional bidding my beautiful bride to be deems necessary for our day to go smoothly. Thanks again to everyone here for everything. I'll check in with everyone on Monday and hopefully have some pics to post if I can edit my homely arse out of them by then...lol
Everyone have a good weekend. Shannon.

The thing I remember is bringing some special balloons over to Scotland from Canada - I think they were silver and gold and (I thought) quite classy looking.

So of course those who were getting the room for the reception ready blew them up one day too early and as a result the next day they were all sagging and losing their helium.

Their solution - go to the local Co-Op and buy some new ones!

Of course they only had bright colours like you'd see at a kid's party :facepalm_smiley::cower:

Now that I look back on it, I suppose I could have asked for all red balloons :umm: (visions of Pennywise) but I hadn't read the book It yet at that time.
