So, I'm about halfway through "On Writing" and I've gotten to the writing exercise regarding the abused spouse. I'm thinking, SURE I can put down six pages on this. Yeah. NOT. I am apparently incapable of a short story.

I also have three other works in progress, four if you count the piece I'm outlining for NaNoWriMo. I don't really outline - I just kind of do characters and regurgitate events into my computer. And you, being an utter bastard, got another one going. Thanks. This is a family forum so I won't call you the other names that come to mind.

Also, for a man who complains about his eyesight twice in the first half of this incredibly helpful book, quit using such a damned tiny font in your printed books. Kindle isn't nearly as useful for scribbling and sticky notes, but it does have scalable fonts.

In any case, here are the first few pages I scribbled down in about an hour. I haven't decided if I will finish it, but it's soon to be Halloween, so perhaps I will.

Welcome to the Board!

Sorry, but as noted in the FAQ, we're no longer accepting submissions for the writing exercise in On Writing. We also don't post original fiction at the request of his attorneys as it could expose Stephen to plagiarism claims and you to having your writing taken by someone else so have had to delete that portion of your post. The only fiction we do post written by other members is the collaborative Halloween story that has been done for many years.

I hope you keep at your writing and wish you the best of luck with it!

Marsha, we are kindred spirits on this one. I don't really like any animals that are bigger then me. :O_O:
How about this? :smile2:

Not if it reaches higher than me kneecap.....

I'm not a fan of ponies, but I never saw myself riding a draft either. He's better tempered than a pony and you'd be amazed at the number of kids I can load up. Besides, he jumps like a jackrabbit. Aside from keeping him clean and my truly astonishing farrier bill, he's kind of perfect. Especially when you consider that I paid 36 cents a pound for him at auction.

I have the same sentiments when it comes to my beer glass........

:D
Haha amen to the beer glass thing!

And yes, it is a LONG way down if you fall. He's about a foot taller now than he was in that picture. I didn't realize he was a baby until I had a vet do his teeth some time after this was taken. Then I felt bad for taking an 18 month old baby out to a show course.
