Greetings! This is my first post. I have been reading King since forever. I am also an alcoholic. I have been sober for 11+ years. Much of my King reading happened while I was blackout drinking - too many years. I have been re-reading my King collection and am finding that books I have owned forever and am sure I read before are completely new to me. I just recently finished ‘Four Past Midnight’ and enjoyed it very much. Likewise, ‘Rose Madder’. I do not recommend the method but I would like to report that I am loving these new (to me) King experiences very much. I’m sure I enjoyed them while I was reading them in my alkie days and I am enjoying them again. More bang for my buck!

Welcome, Mike. I'm glad you are in a better headspace to enjoy King's books. Congratulations on eleven years sobriety. Do you have a favorite Stephen King novel?

Lisey’s Story, if I had to choose.
Did you read the NYT book review? I thought he had some interesting things to say about this novel.

I partly agree with his notion that Lisey's Story is King's "ode to sisterhood and blood", (it is much more than that, of course), but I am less critical of Bag of Bones, even though the writer of this article is accurate in that Lisey's Story is the better portrayal of a marriage. King has went on record and said that The Landons are not shadows of Tabby and himself but I think it's probably the closest depiction readers will ever see of them.
