It's been a while since I read the book (I enjoyed it). What were the gifts, and what does SKA stand for?

I don't recall finding it humorous. I loved the mystery of the vehicle, and actually, I remember feeling that too much was revealed at one point near the end.

Started reading my 9th king book. From a Buick 8. I am only on page 70 but I'm lmao. Has anyone found this novel funny. From people leaving gifts in the gas station bathroom to SKA's. Man that is some funny stuff. Horror comedy genre anyone?
...I never found it to be comedic, but far from me to cast aspersions on you thinking so-given my eclectic sense of humor....

It had some funny moments but i reccon this story as a story of loss, how we cope with said loss. Story of beloning to something; as Ned found his fathers friends.
This is one of mr. Kings best stories, IMHO. For me this book was like he got back to the story telling at its best. It wasn't so much action and happening in the story, but how he told and descriped, I felt joy reading his words, it was magic!

This was another to add to my favorites list. Yup, the humor is a bit dark, but it's the nature of the game. Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical Services, Firefighting, even the Military. All those high stress jobs where you see the "dark" things people do to one another or have done to them...

You have to vent, or you dont last in the job. (With more than three decades combined in military and various LE and EMS positions, I can say I have BTDT). Folks on the outside looking in never understand the dark humor and think we are disrespectful or unfeeling.

King's book caught the family nature of the job. You might not like Officer Jones, but if outsiders come sniffing around... he's family, you have his back. If he's injured, his family is covered.

Good job sir.
