Very excited for this one to drop. So happy to know Sarah Paulson will not be a major character if at all in this season. I am so tired of her monotonous acting. This is supposed to pay homage to all those great 80s horror movies.

Wednesday,September 18th is when it premieres.

Deej- I've only seen two seasons of AHS but have to say that I quickly tired of Sarah Paulson pretty much doing nothing else other than cry. Is she like this in all the other seasons?

She is just so monotonous. And that damn drone-y voice of hers. I mean, she thinks she's being different with all the seasons, but she isn't. I don't think she cried through every season, but that tone she adopted for all the characters, the demeanor. I can't stand her.

Has anyone jumped in? I watched the first episode and it has potential. I have a fondness for the 80s and the cheesy world we lived in. The nostalgia of these types of scares. Just taking a ride in the wayback machine will be worth the price of the ticket.
I am trying!! I watched the first episode and tried this morning to pull up ep 2 On Demand and it wouldn't play! It shows that it will be airing again on Sunday night, shows it as a Repeat, but my only options are to Record tha Sunday showing. :sigh: I had this issue last year once, and eventually it cleared up, but it's frustrating to say the least. I may just have to start recording.

Anywho, as a child of the 80s and a huge 80s slasher movie fan, I dug the first episode and am looking forward to the rest. Like you said, the nostaligia will be worth it, no matter what!

Bummer! I have my DVR set and the only time I ever have an issue (knock on my ol wooden head) is when the Amber Alert System chooses that exact moment to do their weekly testing. That interrupts the recording. But, once it's done, it keeps recording on the other side of it. But, there is that time in the recording missing. And sometimes, it happens right when they are about to reveal something important!!!!

And the killer is....

this is the weekly test of the national emergency broadcasting system. If this had been an actual emergency, YOU ARE DEAD.

Watched the first two episodes.

Mostly entertaining. The homages are borderline imitation IMHO. That is OK if your imitation is better than the original but these aren't. And the 80's cheese is overbearing at times. I know it's supposed to be campy but you can poke fun at a genre without rubbing the viewers nose in it. That said, there were a few interesting twists in episode 2. I will continue watching.

Haven't seen 2 yet, but yes, this is definitely over-the-top campy. But, I'm going for the ride.

The new season isn't all that special so far. Slashers are among my favourite subgenres of horror, but they're doing nothing special with it, that I can see, apart from that there are two killers and it's partly because of a psychological test. It also doesn't feel so American Horror Story anymore. The last season (Apocalypse) felt very much so. The series always had a specific look, but that's totally gone. I suppose after Apocalypse went back to the earlier seasons (1 and 3 specifically) they wanted to try something totally new, but the whole feel of the show is gone. Also it's not nearly as funny as Scream Queens, another look at slashers from the same showrunners. The second season of that went downhill fast, but the first season was very funny.
Also it seems the majority of regulars from the series is also gone in this new season, further taking away the feeling you're watching AHS.
I'll still finish this, as I love slashers, but really hope it will get better.

The sixth episode did indeed get a lot better. It also felt much more AHS, with typically ruthless characters and outrageous plot-elements: buying the sites of famous murders to turn them into vacation resorts.
You kind of wish they had gotten the earlier stuff out of the way sooner to get to this point.

I can't put it in anymore. So some moderator should put them in. I'm just assuming everyone is watching along, otherwise why look at a thread of a series when you're not watching it. It's actually on later here than in the US, by about a week I think.

Because it airs later here, I also got a spoiler from social media that specified a character getting killed, who did it and where. It didn't really influence my watching experience, because for me hearing about it and seeing it are two different things. I still don't know exactly how it happens in the show.

In general I try to avoid spoilers, but sometimes you stumble onto one by accident. The new twist ending of the theatrical film of The Mist I read beforehand on IMDb, where it was used in the title of a thread. But usually they don't bother me that much. There are not many films that totally get ruined for me when I read a spoiler. Of course there are films you can totally ruin by a spoiler, for example if you spoil the ending of something like The Sixth Sense, but there aren't too many like that for me.
