... First an extract form Finders Keepers, then my question. Oh, and hello to all of you.

Extract : Holly wants to meet Pete's teacher and Bill doesn't feel like it's interesting, you see where we are in the book ? (77% says my e-reader)

"You have a hunch about this", Hodges says. "Am I right ?"
"Yes," she says. "It's a Holly-hunch. Now come on."

Question : is there a hidden meaning in Holly's answer ? Like, a joke or something ? To me, it sounds like there's a funny game with words here, but I'm afraid I don't get it.

Have a nice evening, you all. Here, the tropical rain has stopped. Bugs are out in the night !!!

Welcome Papa!

Holly had hunches -- "a feeling or guess based on intuition rather than known facts."

So she called her hunches Holly Hunches.

Sort of like you might kid around and say you had Papa Premonitions.

Just a silly thing.
....can't top that!......excellent answer most wise & sagacious Moderator......(and yeah, I probably COULD blow smoke up your hoo-hah a little farther if I tried....just call that a GNT Guarantee:D)

Welcome and Dana said it perfectly.

Hi and welcome. Dana explained it well.

I have read Finders Keepers and enjoyed it quite a bit - it is just a cute way of her saying she has a hunch, that's all

Sort of like if we called you Barb a Papa (I think that means "father's beard" or something like that :umm:

It is just silly banter - not everything has a deep meaning (if I recall the book correctly)

Welcome to SKMB PapaO

p.s. - I did not see DanaJean's answer first but hers was quite good:

Papa Premonitions! :biggrin2::)

Well... thanks everybody. That "Papa premonitions" made it crystal clear to me, Dana. I thought there was something with the "Holly" so close to "Holy", but there's not. There's a certain amount of humour in Mr King's works, and humour is so difficult to understand in a foreign language... Anyway, thanks to everyone. I've finished Finder Keepers (which has been translated in "Carnets noirs" in French, that means "Black notebooks", very far from the original, by the way, but very precise, in a sense) and I wonder if I must "attack" End of watch or take a pause... We'll see !
