(MINOR SPOILER for Needful Things) So in this novel Andy Clutterbuck is alive and well in Castle Rock.
However, in Needful Things, it is mentioned that he dies two years after the end of that novel. Has Mr. King ever explained this discrepancy, or is it just one of those "different levels of the Tower" thing?

I've also wondered about that.
In The Shining it says that Dick Halloran was in his mid sixties. The Epilogue is either spring of 77 or 78. Then, in Doctor Sleep Halloran's obituary has him much younger than he should be. I could be way off. It didn't detract from the story in any sense. Terrific novels by the way. There is a lot of healing in Doctor Sleep that felt right. The Shining was saturated with domestic abuse, alcoholism, rage, guilt, and many other ghosts. The denoument was very satisfying.

i wondered about this as i read it. i honestly think it could be a case of andy clutterbuck's send off being so brief (just one line about how he'd die two years later) that maybe he forgot killing him off. didn't detract from the story or anything, but it was noticeable for anyone who'd read needful things i'd say. i like how castle rock and its characters keep popping up in different novels, but i'd love a few more actually centered around some of them.

I just noticed the Andy is also in The Bazaar of Bad Dreams. In the story Drunken Fireworks he is listed as Police Chief, and that story is set in 2015.
