I was shocked and deeply saddened when I heard the news, and I wasn’t a fan of Anthony Bourdain’s. Someone who outwardly seemed to “have it all” took his own life. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. May he find peace and rest therein. May his family and friends find answers and be comforted. Bless them all. This is a terrible loss for everyone. Yes to do1you9love?’s suggestion. If you’re feeling hopeless, helpless, overwhelmed, please seek help! Reach out! You matter and you are needed here.

....I never watched the man, but understand the respect and admiration he appeared to garner from many.....the taking of one's own life, as I've said before, is the ultimate selfish act....it leaves behind grief and heartache for all who cared for him....whatever drove him to commit such a final action is a moot point, and one of morbid curiosity....if there is such a thing as a soul, I hope it has found some type of peace.....

Behind you
This hit me harder than I thought it would. Couldn't believe it.

I loved his shows. He was kind and respectful where ever he was and shared their stories, culture, and food. He brought the whole world into my home, as I've never thought of it.

Rest in Peace after all of your travels, Mr. Bourdian.

While we here think it is selfish, I bet you every single person who seeks this end believes it is a self-less act. They feel like failures, useless, burdens and on and on and on. They just feel their loved ones and the world are better off without them and they are doing "us" a favor by just checking out.

....not disputing that...I know from personal experience that’s how it’s justified....it’s an ugly place to inhabit....

Damn. I have to say, this hurt me. If a guy who has by most people's standards, everything a full and interesting life has to offer, why am I and my fellow suffers of life's daily plague of bills, soul crushing disappointments, and beaten with bags of oranges choosing to stay above ground? Y'know I basically stopped watching his show out of jealousy. :) That's right. I preferred Zimmerman's bizarre foods. He's fat, bald, and silly looking! Bourdain was confident, worldly, and at 61 still handsome. He had an eleven year old daughter and his mother is still alive. Godspeed to him, but he was, at the end, stupid & selfish.
