If you had to pick one place in the world to live, assuming you had a job and all the important people in your life, where would it be?

It doesn't have to be someplace you've lived before or even know anything concrete about, but it does have to be a real place. (Sorry, would-be Middle Earth denizens :( Or, if you name a fictional place, how about if you give us a real place, too?) You don't have to move, it can be where you live now if you're happy there. :)

I've never been to Moscow, but I love all of the architecture I see when I get postcards from there. I'd love to live in a place where I'd regularly pass things like St. Basil's cathedral and the Ivan the Great Bell Tower and the Kremlin.

I probably won't ever move, but it's fun to think about.

Thank you for this thread. That is really fun to think about it.

I would like to live somewhere in Greece, maybe, in Athens. I love the architecture, I like the rich history this country has, its culture... I like how the Greek language sounds, and I like a lot people from there, they are great, kind and friendly people. They make very interesting music there, too...

I also know that I would never move from where I am living, that is my home. But if I were to choose my country, it would be Greece. At least, I hope to go there one day in the future... The country is real miracle.

That place where they have tables set up in six inches of water...tropically warm water...and there's a waiter-guy who walks out with a tray balanced the palm of his hand...you can go barefoot all the time...there's a nice cool tropical breeze blowing...saw a photo of this place...didn't say where it was. Second option would be that place where the girls wear bikinis when they ski down the mountain of snow. Saw that on the television, sitting in the Loading Zone, and Dinky, the bartender looked back at me when that played and said what we were both thinking--I want to live where they have winters like that!

If I can stretch the premise of the thread to include the ability to tele-port, I would love to be able to flip flop between homes in good old England and Australia.
That way I could still enjoy this green and pleasant land but be able spend quality time with my young grandsons on the other side of the world without 23 hour flights, and jet lag.

I have always wanted to try living on the west coast of Canada - I hear that it is very lovely there. Right now I live in the province that is three to the right of BC - smack dab in the middle:m_turbo:
You see that monkey - that's what it's like here in the winter when it's minus 40 degrees with a wind chill!

Lina, have you ever seen the movie Shirley Valentine? It made me want to go to Greece. Great movie too!

I agree. It's my dream to just visit. Do you think an English person would be able to tell if I faked the accent?
These days English cities and large towns are such a cosmopolitan mix of people you'd fit in no problem just as you are.
If your fake English accent is anything like Dick Van Dyke's chimney sweep in the film Mary Poppins, ie "Gor blimey guvnor, you can't half rabbit". I'd forget it and just be you.:smile-new:
