I've been watching Mom and baby a little this morning and it seems like every time baby latches on to feed, Mom walks away. I hope she/he is getting enough colostrum! (and milk might not come on if feeding isn't established properly soon)

Has there been any news as to whether we have a boy or girl calf?

Amazing. Mom knows what to do. She probably walks away to give strength to baby.
All that licking. And to make baby get walking.

Gosh, that was something to see. So big at birth, it's hard to scale.

It is her fourth baby so hopefully she is doing the right things for the baby.

The weight of the newborn is unknown, but a calf at birth is usually about 6 feet tall and weighs a whopping 100 to 150 pounds

They had mentioned in their blurb below the video that the males aren't allowed in with the females or babies as they're aggressive, but perhaps they just mean in the same stall...?

I have seen April lying down at different times before she went into labour, maybe she's just moving around at present to help with circulation after birth? (maybe clots/stroke could be an issue in a animal so large after birthing? I don't know...)

....just read that in the wild, giraffes don't sleep more than 20 minutes daily....power napping only to be on constant watch for predators....
