Yes. Is the other giraffe the dad? Or neighbor lady?
They had mentioned that males are aggressive, so not sure if it's male or female?
Where is baby? Nosey neighbor knows.
The live chat feed is up and running again and I read that baby is there, just off camera laying down near April's feeder.

According to News 10, one of the reasons behind this decision is the reaction to an injury April sustained on Monday. The 15-year-old giraffe twisted her leg, causing her to noticeably favor one of her other long stalks. The zoo said this type of injury is normal for a long-legged animal and is the equivalent to a human rolling their ankle, uncomfortable but temporary.
From the beginning, the zoo had planned to pull the live stream about one week after the birth, so keepers could focus on the calf's care. Now, the live stream will likely end a little earlier, probably between Wednesday or Friday, so the staff can work on preparing the animals and the facility for the park's reopening for the season in May without distraction.

I visited the FB page and April's giraffe neighbour actually is the dad! He is called Oliver. Now apparently the dads don't normally have any involvement in bringing up their young, but as he has shown such interest in junior; the keepers have said it does bode well for the future whereby they may try introducing the three of them together outdoors for short intervals.

Love positive nature stories. May April heal quickly, and may the family enjoy a long life together. One preious baby!!

It sounds like April's leg is fine, the keepers said she has "walked it off". One of the reasons they want to shut the cam down is because of the huge influx of email/FB messages... people saw her limp and suddenly they were absolutely flooded with feedback. The keepers said the level of work that created was taking them away from the hands-on duties with the animals, so shutting down the feed will help lower the flow of email etc.

Care of the critters comes first. I understand the enjoyment of "now/live" but the care must be prime. I remember watching the Eagles Sydney and Victoria almost day and night. People can still ck for written updates.

I watched D1 throu D4 eaglets. Decorah Eagles - Mom and dad. They did not name the babies. They tagged one. D2. She went far far away, last seen in Northern Canada. Such drama, oh my! qnd sadly some heartbreak the whole way through. Won't tell.

I will post Mom again. Raindance. What a trooper! And dad was always close by.

I saw it live and was very scared for babies, they were almost ready to fly at this point, but not strong enough to make it down on their own. And the Raptor research project let nature take it's course. :hopelessness:

This is utube, there was no music to help at the time of watching. But it turned out ok. Poor mom, hanging in there for babies, getting all kinds of whacked.

That is very cool that the nosy neighbor was dad. Maybe this will bode for one big happy family in the future.

Everybody was upset.. All that walking around with hoofs coming out of you.
Jeeze that was tough to watch. Who walks around with dangling hoofs?

Glad to hear it was dad. She was giving him looks and he was pacing and giving looks back. She wins, just because of the hoofs. ahhh.

I did have some scary moments watching that too... thinking, it's been a long while since baby stretched out his legs, is he still alright?!
Mama did a fantastic job, once his snout had been born, she cleared away all the membranes so he could breathe before the rest of his body was born. She's a good Mama.
