Nomik , the TV adaptation is not good. It is not outright bad, just very underwhelming. The kids were great, but some of the adults were miscast (John Ritter as Ben was my favourite, and I'll watch anything with Richard Thomas). But the fact that it aired on Network television should tell you enough. It is seriously watered-down, and HUGE chunks of the story were omitted for a three-hour running time. Even Tim Curry's Pennywise (no disrespect intended, cause he was terrific) could not be as despicable as IT actually was in the book. Nevertheless, as with any other movie, see it yourself and feel free to share your thoughts with us.

I've seen it many times, years ago. I don't think I've watched it within the past decade. My memory of the book is far more vivid. I enjoyed the movie at the time. I was not necessarily disagreeing with you, I just have some love for it despite the flaws. I didn't know they were flaws until I grew up!
