I feel your pain... Myself is 52 and have noticed things when i play floorball. Hey, i'm not as fast as i used to be!! I used to be able to run really fast but now people run past me when we play. Also, my achilles tendon is angry, never happened before 50. And yesterday my doctor said to me "now when you start getting older...." She wanted to insert my ups and downs in my epilepsy career in a database so future sufferers and their doctors have good ideas of what happens. Since i been taking medication since i was 5 my info would be valuable and she asked for my permission. I gave it of course. It was that phrase "getting older" that got me. Darn it, I don't feel like 50 i feel like a young 30 and i absolutely refuse to adjust my diet! I eat what i like. Veggies? Well, some are ok, others no thank you! And i feel fine. I adore cheese and sweet things and i'm still not becoming fat. A working colleague says i gotta have an iron stomach otherwise she doesn't understand how i survive.

Wow! I didn't expect responses from so many.
I thank you all for sharing such candid moments of your lives.

That image, DiO'Bolic, brought me near to tears in both laughter and sorrow.

After a work incident in 2001, that resulted in prolapsed discs at L4-L5 & L5-S1, I've had trouble walking more than 500m-or standing for more than 10 minutes-before my lower back muscles begin seizing and pain radiates to my right ankle due to sciatic impingement as my spine compresses.
I miss being able to hike for eight to fourteen hours per day, with fasting and prayer, for at least two days, through the hills and DiO'Bolic fasting & praying.

Turning 44 this weekend. All i could think was that in 6 years i will be 50...:icon_eek:
I feel 30-ish so 50 seems very far away...

I turned 44 this year, too. Talking with my nephew about Alien: Covenant, I told him how I'd taken the day off work and queued to get into the first screening of Alien 3 when it was released in 1992, and what my reaction had been on the credits rolling.
It then dawned on me that that was 25 years ago, yet it didn't seem like it should have been anything like that far back. I then had the thought that by the time I've done the same again, I'll be...

Damn. Fell asleep while editing my last post...
I'm a little mentally exhausted after only my fourth day in an 18 day Cert II in Security Operations.

Definately a sign of how a mere half century has wreaked havoc on both body and mind.

Anyhoo... my apologies, to all and sunder, for my brain farts during the composition of my first and previous posts. They clearly require a decent sub-editor.

As alluded to in my previous post, walking & standing-for even short periods-is an old and unwanted experience in pain on a daily basis.

I may whine about how it SUXXORZ to be me, but the reality is that I'm eternally thankful for this battle-scarred body. Few people get to experience the same bredth of wonder and awe that I have.

I thank you all for being amiable toward me and count you all as blessed friends.

I think I edited it (fixed your quote coding) before you wrote this, but just to show that I am more and more fitting into the theme of this thread... I fell asleep at my laptop not too long after editing the post! :biggrin2:

Thank you muchly FlakeNoir :biglove:
You're welcome.
I'll bet if it had been a rugbygame on you wouldn't have fallen asleep!!
:biggrin2:
I watch almost all of my rugby games in my Nana's room at her nursing home and I am kind of ashamed to admit that she is better at staying awake for the really late games (I'm talking 3:00 am when the boys are overseas playing) than me. And she is turning.... 98 next week. :biggrin2:

There were only 48 states in the US when I was born. :(

Here too, and I remember in St. Cabrini's, Springfield, IL, the nuns bringing in a 49-state flag because of Alaska and then a relatively short time later a 50-state flag because of Hawaii. I remember expecting a 51-state flag to show up soon. It seemed like a routine.

School days -- being there for history in the making! Remember the flags well.

48 states, no zip codes, party lines on telephones if you lived in more rural areas, you had to pay extra to have phone extension lines, teachers told us we would soon have to be learning the metric system as the country would be converting to metric--and probably more I'm not thinking of at the moment back in the day when I was growing up.

Cant they make Puerto Rico its own state? Which state does it belong to now?
