Hey Leif, have you seen any Carcharodon carcharias (Jaws!) off New Jersey deep water wrecks?!

We have them. Several are spotted every year and one large specimen was tracked this summer close to shore this summer.

(POSSIBLY SPOILERS)

It's an 'old school' feeling King story, back to his fascination with cars and engines. What's disappointing about it is the way he rounds it off, it feels very rushed, like suddenly he got tired of it or didn't know how to finish it. Just a few seconds with a magnifying glass and the car is destroyed/defeated? Not only could you see that it had to do with the magnifying glass miles (sorry) away, but it was far too easy. Also some of it didn't make sense, like Pete saying toward the end 'I think it can't move' - it was a CAR! There were more mistakes, but in translation it's always hard to say if it's King or the translator making the mistakes.
It was also disappointing you didn't get to see/know more about the alien in the car (there was a creature in the car, as evidenced by a large handprint).
I enjoy all the bits about people getting eaten by the car though and as always his description of characters, places and situations is very vivid.

Basically after Night Shift and Skeleton Crew a lot of the short stories often disappoint me somewhat. Especially in Night Shift every story is brilliant and Skeleton Crew, why less so, still has classics like Gramma and The Raft. So maybe the bar was very high in the beginning.
