Well, it was a pretty awesome weekend for the Red Sox! Swept the 4 game series with the Yankees. We now have a 9 1/2 game lead in the AL East.

The Yankees seem to have a motivation problem. They play poorly against bad teams and seem to lose interest in the game if they cough up a lead. Yanks were embarrassed on Thursday, outpitched on Friday and Saturday, and gut punched in the 10th inning on Sunday. I know Aaron Judge and Gary Sanchez are on the DL, but still. The Sox are missing Dustin Pedroia, Chris Sale, Eduardo Rodriguez, Ian Kinsler, Rafael Devers, Christian Vazquez, and Blake Swihart.

The Yankees should still win close to or over 100 games. If the Sox hold on and win the AL East the Yanks would have to play in the one game wild card. Think about that. Win 100 games and have to play one game to make it to the ALDS. How bad would it stink to lose that game?

Somewhere over the rainbow
Red Sox keep rolling over the competition. Pretty amazing and a commentary on how bad the rest of the AL other than the Yankees, Indians, and Houston truly are.
:icon_eek:
I'm still trying to be careful as regards the Sox
Because I am superstitious - which my husband mocks.
He does not believe in sports gods; said they're just a joke.
I bet that his Yankees wish he'd thought before he spoke.

Red Sox are so far in front of other baseball teams
They've exceeded even Fenway Faithful's fevered dreams.
But, I'm trying not to gloat before the play-offs start
Knowing that it risks the sports gods breaking Boston's heart.

Go ahead and laugh it up! Feel free to talk some trash.
Don't believe me... Then, when all your sports dreams turn to ash,
I won't say I told you so (that makes the sports gods mad)
But I will be thinking it... And gloating, just a tad.

Red Sox. 101 wins and counting. These are from tonight's game (SwiftDog was in the house!)

This is fun! Only thing that troubles me about this team is the 8th inning dumpster fire getting to Kimbrel. That needs to be resolved quickly.

Bye, bye Toronto birdies. You've been swept away.

The not so amazing Mets are in town this weekend. Division clinch by this time next week??

Congrats to the Sox... Awesome season. They did much better than I expected at the beginning of the season.

No one expects a 100+ win season. All those wins mean exactly squat once the playoffs start. Yankees could win 100 games, too. Watch out for Oakland!

What I like about this Red Sox team is that it never gives up.

103 wins and magic number of 2 for the Red Sox.

Basically, if they win one game against NY this week they clinch the division. Would be nice to have the division wrapped up this week and then spend the rest of the month setting up the roster for the playoffs. The last week and a half will be audition time for bullpen spots. My vote is for Sale, Porcello, Price, E-Rod as starters. Evoldi, Wright, Workman, Barnes, Braser, Hembree, and of course Kimbrel in the bullpen. No way in heck am I letting the dumpster fire that is Joe Kelly on that roster.

Red Sox clinch their division for the 3rd straight season! Won it in Yankee stadium, which makes it even sweeter!

On to the ALDS!

Last year my niece was telling me she had been offered Geddy Lee’s tickets for a game. She says “what am I go8ng to do with them?” She said no thanks. I told her, next time you call your favourite aunt and invite her to the game.

Last night she send me a text....look what I got. Geddy’s tickets for today’s game. Today send me a picture of her and her boyfriend and Geddy’s parking space. She is trolling me. :sorrow:

Geddy doesn't have tickets. Just a reserved seat behind home base. ;)

Puig has to be the most colorful player in the MLB. Worth watching the game just to see his antics.
