Stephen doesn't read or personally respond to fan letters--hasn't for decades--as not doing so leaves time for him to write, do his other business, and have time for his family. Fan mail is answered by staff.

I've changed your user name as requested so be sure to use that next time you log in.

Maybe I’ll write him a fan letter, just to see the kind of response I get from the staff. :)

ROFL I love it that sounds like typical Cleese. Maybe the staff should do what the Royal Family do and print out a "Dear John" Letter... thank you for writing yaaadee yaaadeee yaaaaaa, do appreciate your good wishes yyaaaaadeyaaaydeaaaa. I am kind of sad about the ex libris sticker though as I was going to say that I am not an internet tout because I was going to stick the signature paste in EL James' 50 Shades of Gray as a matter of British ecccentricity lol :p Fair enough though I remember Eminem saying he used to be up all night answering letters from admirers as he felt obliged to. it inspired him to write Stan

On a totally different subject it is a shame that Stephen King has not given any thought to narrating his own stories. Looking at various interview he has done it sounds like he has a good reading voice. I am actually a big lover of authors reading from their own work as to me they are the only ones who can carry it off well. However it is really rare isn't it.

He's read several of his works for audiobooks, including some of the narration on The Bazaar of Bad Dreams. Our page about Audiobooks here, lists the reader for each of them and you can find the titles of the ones he has done. And I just noticed that we don't have the entry yet for The Bazaar of Bad Dreams so will need to update that page but you can find out more on the Promo page.

I have a few of the audiobooks SK has narrated. Must admit, there is nothing like an author narrating his work. One drifts into his world of spoken words.

He does a great intro to "Salem's Lot" too. While I don't mind hearing these books read to me by King, the audiobooks have some other great readers you should check out. My favorites are "Carrie", "Dolores Claiborne," "Cujo" "Apt Pupil" "A Good Marriage" "Graveyard Shift and Other Stories" and "Salem's Lot" (so far).
Kudos to the selection committee on these readers. Wow, are they amazing!
