What comics were you into?
Only DC (Muskrat close your ears) and collected Batman comics almost exclusively. From what I can remember there were a few Superman, Aquaman, and other odds and ends. It was basically only a year that I ardently collected and then my attention moved elsewhere. As I said, this was the summer I picked up a paperback copy of Misery and didn't stop reading it for two days. Not to sully this thread...what did you collect?

Yeah, my main focus was always Batman. We're of the generation, I suppose, who chose to either love or hate what the 1989 film did to the caped crusader, and I opted for hate. :) That's basically when I stopped collecting comics. At my peak, I managed to get hold of all the old Ramona Frandon Super Friends comics, and the Joker series which both ran in the late 70's. Both of which are incredibly valuable now! I still dabble. I love the old Charlton comics. Especially the horror. They and old Atlas comics can be gotten very cheaply. I'm grateful my child ignores them and has not torn them to pieces yet! I've got online comics friend I've known off & on for 15 years who spend about $50 a week on new books. I just can't see it. Luckily, I'm a bit of a social butterfly :) , and several of our friends if they come across comics at yard sales or whatever, they'll just give them to me. I think the going rate is 25 cents for five, or something like that. You can't beat that old comics smell.

Oh joy of joys! This September DC is putting out a massive omnibus of everyone's favorite "muck-encrusted mockery of the man-he-once-was", SWAMP THING! This, ahem, tome features all 24 issues of the original series (including the first ten by my man Berni Wrightson, as well as the first appearance from House of Secrets), all the Swampy stuff from Brave and the Bold, Challengers of the Unknown, DC Presents #8 (the first Swampy meets Superman tale) and...Holy crap!...issues 1-18 of the 2nd series, Saga of the Swamp Thing, as well as the annual that adapts the first Swampy movie! You know I'm down! Can't wait to get my mossy mitts on this hard-backed treasure.

(Kinda sad, considering I used to own all these issues once upon a time--I still have all the brilliant Alan Moore stuff, though, which picks up right where this book leaves off!)

Of course, for anyone who just wants the Berni stuff, there's always the Roots of the Swamp Thing and Dark Genisus trade PBs...
