We have been talking about the best novels but what about the Novellas and the collections. Any opinions and why that one and not another one?
Here are some thoughts from me:
For novellas I'll go for Full Dark No Stars as number one Closely followed Different Season
For shortstories.... That is difficult but i go for Everything Eventual closely followed by Nightmares and Dreamscapes. They are my top 2. It is the width and scope of the stories and some highnotes too of course.
What do you think?

Different Seasons...because it is different. Never was and I still am not much of a horror aficiando...but I do enjoy good stories and in the end that is what King has written. I also get a kick out of the whole novel/novella/short story pigeon-holing as what many call King's novellas seem to be the same length if not longer than many stories called novels...and I think many of them are published as such? Though their initial presentation was in a collection?

Novellas would have to be Different Seasons because it showed me that King was not just a 'horror' writer.
Short story collection would have to be Night Shift because it showed me the range and command of the story that a very young Steve had. Jerusalem's Lot just blew my mind with the style of writing back then when I first read it. The Last Rung On The Ladder and The Woman In The Room cemented my love and appreciation for this young writer.

So difficult to choose between Full Dark No Stars and Different Seasons! DS was my first love, though, so I'll go with that one for favorite book of novellas :)

Short story collection: Night Shift. Every time. Though Everything's Eventual is a close second.

My favorite novella is Low Men in Yellow Coats. It was very different from anything I've ever read. Every time I see a lost pet sign, I think about it. I also loved The Langoliers and The Mist. I havn't read Full Dark, No Stars but I suspect it will become a favorite :)

I gave up trying to decide which short story collection I liked best. There are too many great stories in each collection lol.

I do, too! And so does everyone in my family (because I had to tell everyone about it--lol). We've had long discussions about what our 'lost pet' signs would say, and any signs of that sort get *sideeyed* :)
