I just checked it out too-it's on Hulu+ . But on the bright side, maybe I should take advantage of the free week trial of Hulu+ and binge-watch Ab Fab!! ;-D

That's thinking--lol! I did the trial thing, too (to watch Downton Abbey--lol), and didn't 'get' Hulu at all the first time; I let it lapse. A while later I tried it again & got hooked. It's great for TV, not so much for movies (though I've found some interesting & unusual movies since starting). At $7.99/mo, it's well worth the $ :) Between that and Netflix, we have barely missed cable (well, maybe BBC America).

I started Rectify and have watched 2 eps. I like the main guy quite a bit, the sister not so much, and the filming quality/script is excellent, but I wondered...does it EVER have a second of brightness? Something that's not depressing as hell?

I watched the first season and I loved it. I hate that season two isn't on Netflix.

Most of my favorites have been mentioned such as Sons of Anarchy, American Horror Story, Bates Motel, and Rectify. Rectify is some of the best modern television I've ever seen.

I would add:
The Killing
The Returned (Les Revenants)
Hell on Wheels
Top of the Lake (think I saw someone else post this too)
The Red Road (Sundance channel)

Have I not mentioned "Leverage" in this thread? Grandma and I watch it every time we see the reruns on this listing. It helps to have seen it from the first season but not necessary. It runs about an 80% success rate for us, much better than average. Fun premise, well executed, likable characters.
