Did anyone mention Seven Samurai? Okay, a Japanese film, swords rather than guns, but still a Western in theme, so much so that it was redone practically scene by scene as The Magnificent Seven, which wasn't all that bad, either.

I know people who would put The Wild Bunch right up there. I'm not one of them, but it might deserve mention.

The seven samurai is just one of Korusawas "western". Have anyone seen Yojimbo? A Fistful of Dollars is copied almost scene for scene from that movie. Its just that Toshiro Mifune had a sword but Clint Eastwood had a gun. Otherwise they are identical. Korusawa is much copied, his The Wild Escape was the main inspiration for the first Star Wars movie according to George Lucas himself.
Speaking of Toshiro Mifune he actually made a western in the US that are quite good. Red Sun with him and Charles Bronson in the leads. Think it was Terence young who directed. Alain Delon and Ursula Andress is also in the movie.
Word. All so good, Kurben, Grandpa.

All John Wayne westerns and All Clint Eastwood westerns... there is also a new comedy western that for some weird and sick reason I found hilarious, it's called A Million Way To Die In The West

Pale Rider is a favorite of mine also.
I just finished watching The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. I didn't like this one as good as Fistfull Of Dollars, and For A Few Dollars More.
I liked the music in them though.

3:10 to Yuma is by far the best western to come out in the last 20 years.

I want more davey Crockett

I think I have just found the best western ever , sound familiar .

"A gunslinger comes to the aid of a boy named Jay, and together they head West across the great American desert in search of Rose"

Don't believe me -

I have this on hold at the library, but it may be a while before I see it (71st position with 15 copies).
How far does an homage get to go before it becomes plagiarism? (I could be mistaken, but that sure does sound familiar...)

I saw a movie once -- a long time ago -- called Timerider, in which a motorcycle racer was somehow transported back to the 19th century where he had some forgettable adventures that involved him wearing a red jumpsuit and helmet.

It was so stupid I've never forgotten it.

I love the Spagetti stuff, any Clint stuff, sure. Peckinpah.

If I do John Wayne, I'll take one of the 'S's: The Searchers, Stagecoach, or The Shootist.

I'll watch both Young Guns back to back, despite the lame electric guitar score.

Any Jimmy Stewart western, yer bugger.

Once Upon A Time In The West got em all beat, though.

A Million Ways to Die in the West.
Watch for the line, "Why don't you shut up????" It's worth watching the whole movie to see that one line. (I know this isn't a real western. I'm mixing it up tonight.)

I rather liked Neil Patrick Harris and the hat scene. Sure, call me sick.

I have Once Upon A Time In The West on order.
Right now I am in the middle of Long Riders.
You should see my wishlist on Half.com! Mostly westerns, a few Clint Eastwood that weren't westerns. I have the whole Dirty Harry series on there, hoping I can get it next month.
I'm waiting on about 8 to come in the mail right now.

After some thought, I have to add a couple.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, pretty much because I was so entertained the movie after it came out that I enjoyed just going to see it when I could.

Open Range. It was a gritty, well-done Western. For those who don't like Kevin Costner (and I can understand that), you might want to catch this one anyway. And Robert Duvall and Annette Bening ain't half bad.

I have to agree with Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid...Sam Shepard (I adore this guy) did a fairly good follow up story in Blackthorn.

The Magnificent Seven - I don't care that it's a remake. Still one of my favourites.
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - this was my introduction to Clint Eastwood and the start of my CE addiction. For years I wouldn't watch a western unless it was an Eastwood film.
The Outlaw Josey Wales
Pale Rider - a loose remake of Shane
Unforgiven - the saloon scene at the end. Gets me every time.
High Plains Drifter - the "X-Files" of the western genre
Shane - come on man, who doesn't love this film?
Tombstone - my favourite Kurt Russell film
Bone Tomahawk - a recent favourite and the best film I saw in 2015. Seek it out.
The Magnificent Seven - great cast and the one of the best damn film scores ever composed
3:10 to Yuma - the remake; haven't seen the original yet
