How are Silent Bob and Prince getting along?

We have a little hawk that trolls the skies. My yard is a killing field! I watched it gliding peacefully on the wind and those legs went straight down and it started coming down fast. Whatever it was going for, though, escaped because the hawk came back up with empty talons.
Very well! Silent Bob went a while between his first cage mate (Greenie--named by a 7 year old, lol) and Jay, and he was very unhappy. He just muttered to his reflection in a mirror all day! Pretty entertaining for us, but not healthy for him. That;s why we got another bird right away this time. Prince is just a baby, so he keeps Bob hopping!

I heard a weird cawing noise coming from the backyard - it turned out to be a pair of crow parents feeding their baby. There were some bread and cookie scraps out on my back lawn.

Those crows are smart! I saw one of them checking me out (I was peeking at them through the screen). He or she was looking straight at me with those beady little black eyes.

I looked it up. Apparently what you have is an American Crow while what we have is a Hooded Crow Common in most parts of Europe except spain, italy and southern France where they have Carrion Crow instead. All fill the same role. I often see my crows have fights with Magpies (i think it is about best place to nest.

I used to see a lot of magpies in Alberta when I lived there - they are similar in size so I can see them fighting with crows.

(I looked it up too but did not find anything on the Hooded Crow)

Bird Hybrids: Carrion Crow x Hooded Crow

Okay - never mind - there is something here about them after all!

Interesting stuff - you always help me to learn something new kurben :)

Obviously I'm running a Club Med for Quail in my backyard. I opened my door yesterday to go out and there were probably 10 adult quail with babies scrambling like a skillet full of eggs!

Their little bodies tilted forward to be more aerodynamic and they just scattered. Those little stick legs pumping for all they were worth. And of course, I'm the idiot who talks out loud to them telling them,

"Calm the hell down you guys, I'm not going to hurt you."

I hear these birds every year as we skate into winter. My ears perk up at those familiar notes- quick, soaring whistles like the opening bars of a Schubert or Mozart symphony. I guess they migrate south for colder months. Anyone else hearing them?
It's almost like singing like a human singing.

I was just reading about them - they breed up here in central Canada then migrate south to the United States
