Stephen King has always inspired me and even saved me. I have suffered from depression in my life and have written about it in complete candor on my blog at http://www.melindaville.com. SK also inspired me to write my first novel, The Purified (A Montana Wylde Mystery) which was published in February of 2017. I am almost finished with the 2nd book in the series, The Deceived, which I hope to have completed and ready for publication no later than March 2018.

I am still a new writer with much to learn but I'm proud of The Purified. I worked so hard on it. I started it in 2012 and didn't complete it until 12/16. I didn't use an outline so I ended up doing 8 (!) revisions.

(For The Deceived, I have an outline. :) It's going much smoother.). Cheers--that's my shameless promotion. I mean, what the heck.

Congratulations! I'm jealous and inspired as well. I'll have to pick it up.

....Morning Marsha! Up and around on a Saturday? Sheesh! Tell those two to buy their own damn coffee and Ding Dongs.....
Are you kidding?! I've been awake since 5:30 CT and started on the job around 7-ish. Will be done sometime around 9:30 PM. So much for the glamorous life of a personal assistant. All work and no play makes.....

She is a well-oiled machine and will outlive us all by a century at least. I've been up as long but not near as productive. I made my wife a bagel. I cranked only a single page of fiction, and got distracted by posting. :) I need to cut the internet off in my writing room.

Oh, please--write a book! It took a long time and I tried so hard. It was really empowering for me to complete it and also helped relieve some fears. I'm still insecure but putting it out there was important for me to do. Everyone has a novel in them--at least one. Write yours and I'll be cheering for you every step of the way. Also, since I now have experience, I gladly offer any advice to anyone who wishes for it. My husband and I have learned a ton about this business. That's why the second time around is much smoother. I'll be looking for your book so don't you let me down! :)

I appreciate the encouragement and I might very well take you up on the advice. I'm working on getting my 5-10 pages a day. :)

That's good! 5 - 10 pages and it adds up. I try to get in 1,500 words a day. Some days (and chapters) are easier. This new book has taken me a lot of time to do the research but in the places where I know my stuff, it can just flow. I had a great day yesterday: 3,500 words! I'll be done with the 1st draft soon but it's going to be scary and weird to read it. I've hardly glanced at what I wrote this time around. With The Purified, I kept reading and then feeling I had to edit and I don't think that was a good idea. (A lot of my writer friends slapped my hands for that!). But you should just keep writing. You will be so happy when you finish a book!) :)

This is so nice of you but I'm not seeing where this might be. Can you point me in the right direction when you get a chance? I know you are super busy on the tour and probably doing thirty other things so only when you have time. Thanks in advance. Melinda. :)
