Those of you who have been Board members for a long time remember the days when the Board was closed for the weekend and during my vacations and all posts were moderated before they went live regardless of how long someone had been a member. This was done primarily to keep the spamming, trolls, and flaming behavior off the Board. We decided to change the policy and keep the Board open at all times for those with more than 250 posts (now down to 100) with the help of volunteer moderators. Although there are 4 volunteer moderators, due to health issues of 2 of them the only ones who have consistently been able to do so for the past couple of years are Dana Jean and FlakeNoir. They have given of their time and energy in order to make it possible for everyone to enjoy the privilege of posting here 24/7 and it was expected that all moderators would be treated with the same level of respect. Of late, weekends in particular have been especially trying and this has had its effect to the point that my fellow moderators are experiencing burnout and need a break. And considering some of the posts, perhaps it's not just the Mods who need a breather. 
We will reevaluate the situation to decide if this will be temporary or permanent, but at the moment the plan is to shut down the Board on weekends as we did in the past. The Board will be closed from 4 PM (Eastern) Fridays until 8:30 AM (Eastern) the following Monday. Summer (at least for us in the northern hemisphere) is a great time to get out and enjoy the weather and hopefully give us all a break to come back from a weekend off with a better attitude to start the week.
PMs (Conversations) are still available for those who have those privileges even when the Board is closed.
