This has been a welcome break from their moderating duties and we have, therefore, decided that going forward the Board will continue to be shut down for the weekend. This is a 3-day weekend for me because of the Martin Luther King holiday on Monday so it will not reopen until Tuesday morning at 8:30 AM ET when I am back on duty.

Other changes may be coming in the next year or two in how the Board operates. The moderating team will be discussing how best to do that and will keep you informed as those decisions are made.

Now that the maintenance has been completed, there will be no need to close the Board down for Profile posts and private messages so anyone with those privileges will be able to do so.

It used to be closed on weekends when I first joined. Glad to hear the moderators are using the free time to relax and spend time with family!

Weekends are Ms Mod’s time off and the other mods are volunteers. We should be thankful the SKMB was open on weekends until now. Glad to see the staff will get the more time off from some of us. I certainly would want weekends off and not have to work. With their extra time our mods can now join me in planning to take over the world... or at least the tri-state area. :p

It's that time again, 3-day weekends! I suspect the moderators may be the only ones excited about the Board closings, but here's the schedule:

The Board will be closed at 4 PM ET on Friday, February 9 and reopen at 8:30 AM ET on Tuesday, February 13.

The Board will be closed at 4 PM ET on Friday, February 16 and reopen at 8:30 AM ET on Tuesday, February 20.

Must say, the TBR pile of books is getting less with each mini closing. Have a safe and relaxing long weekend!!
