I stopped after the second Lestat book. I'm curious what your dream was about. Was it another vampire book?
Oh it was dreadful. I got the flu while I was reading it, so it was crazy fever dreams. I dreamed I was stuck in a casket floating down the river with one of them. Constant visuals of those red headed vampire witch twins. I always think it was one of the scariest books I've read, but really I think it was the dreams that were terrifying. I read all of them - up to Blackwood Manor - she lost me after that.

Thanks for answering and elaborating. Skimom will flesh out her answers, too. I forgot about Boy's Life and the FF book- both fantastic, a pleasure to read. Yes, I like Sidney Sheldon as well. I can't think of a single writer who can twist the plot so many times and keep me guessing. Too bad he's no longer with us. The Stars Shine Down, Morning Noon and Night, and If Tomorrow Never Comes are personal favorites.
I laughed at the Gone Girl comment.
Rage of Angels, Master of the Game, Windmills of the God. I couldn't get enough of him. I think Master of the Game was my favorite. Oh - The Other Side of Midnight- Susan Sarandon was in a movie of this - it was a good movie rendition of a great book.

:D Yowza! That'd scare me too. (Nyquil and Benadryl do that to me.)
Not to hijack this thread, but the first time I got sick my freshman year of college, I bought Nyquil. Naive little girl that I was, kept taking a little more and a little more because I wasn't feeling any better. Woke up 36 hours later.

1.) Favorite books with a child narrator. List one or a few.
John Boyne - The Boy in a Striped Pyjamas, The Girl With All The Gifts - M.R. Carey, both excellent
2.) What is the last novel to give you nightmares?
Books seldom gives me nightmares, They can scare me and creep me out but somehow i dont dream about them. But after reading Pet Semetary I had nightmares for years. It is also the most scary book i've read
3.) What is the last book that taught you something new or surprised you?
Just the last one? Then The Templars By Dan Jones. I have waited for a good book on them and it seems i found it. Usually the myth and legends of the Templars drown the real history.
4.) If you could have a sequel to any novel, what would it be?
Not a sequel but it would be fun to read a prequel to IT. Pennywise are there of course but all our heroes aint born yet. Derry has untold stories in the past.
5.) Which book in your TBR pile beckons the loudest?
The Heart Goes Last by Margaret Atwood

The Knights Templar are fascinating to me and the TV series that started last season 'Knightfall' is excellent. Looking forward to Season 2 starting in the Fall.
I haven't read The Templars by Dan Jones but I will look for it. Did read 'The Knights Templar' by Alan Butler and liked it very much. Right now I am reading about The Staffordshire Hoard. Thanks for mentioning Dan Jones book.

I would say one of his shorter books with a straight forward plot, like Carrie, Misery, or Pet Sematary. My first was Misery and it was a new drug for me. Some people like to read them chronologically. That's a good way, too.
Welcome, Rufus.
