Hello

i want to express a lot how much i love Brady Hartsfield, hence the thread name

i am a fan of detective fictions (in every media, books, games, etc.) and i have this kind of obsessiveness that i easily fell in love to cool characters, especially those who has a very intriguing past and mostly, the what so called "Dark Past" that also has the brains, the ironic thing is 75% (almost) of them in my list was Villains, that been said, i found myself liking the Villain more than to the main character.

so let's go to the thread name
the reason why i like (and Fell in love) Brady aside to his looks (that i imagine his looks as same as my classmate in my first year of college) is he wasn't afraid of creating and repeating crimes (except to the fact that he was still in doubt
Poisoning his ice cream truck because of his unfinished business to Mr. Hodges)
. Also him being a lone wolf Psychopath, that added to the reasons why i like him, i also find that cute the fact
he misspelled "Perp" to "perk"
. i found myself imagining how it is cute for me to see him
raged inside his basement
(and don't get me started to his Basement, imagining it makes me feel it was cool, seeing the basement game makes me feel it was so so cool). there were a lot of times when i re-read Mr. Mercedes and i found myself Giggling when the POV shifted to Brady's Narrator.

however, i can relate to him in terms of Bro relationship (except that mine was Bro-Sis) because i can see myself to him and how he treat Frankie (but not ended up what he did to Frankie, don't get me wrong, altho i want to strangle my bro for touching all of my stuff, i still love him)

Bottomline, the main reason why i like and Love Brady is him being a Terrifying and Scary Character using the elements of the real world. His character was simply amazing yet disturbing and scary for you if you a saw a person like him.

do i look like insane and sick-minded for falling in love to a Psychopath character like him? i think i'm going crazier to him, especially when i got the EOW in my hand lol

thanks for hearing me as Brady's fangirl

*drops mike*

PS. if only Brady was real, i really want to marry him lol

....Kanye West thinks he's a better character.....

*thinks of someone to push into the cliff* *stares at Kanye West* *smiled*

The villains are always more interesting. Because of your 'mic' intro, I'm assuming this is tongue-in-cheek. If not, I don't think you are insane or sick minded. It just reinforces that old chestnut "Love is blind".

i'm being serious in here actually (altho, every time i will make a speech post in my blogs, i always started in the "picks up mike" statement) , i think i pretty much agree that this is "Love is Blind" side of me (but my obsession to Brady i think was enough for me to ask my psychology professor to check my mentality). I really thought i am the only person who love him, Considering that many people in goodreads hates Brady and i'm still here, leading the "Brady Hartsfield Defense Squad"

and yep, you're right *sends a lot of likes*, villains are more interesting, that applies to my obsession to Video games and book *cough*Haytham Kenway *cough*. Because i always found the hero boring or OP (overpowered) or so (or almost) perfect, unlike the villains that has a flaws, and it was cute to see villains fall to their own flaws lol.

Yeah he is my favorite villain of SK. But once he exited the land of the living (so to speak) and had to rely on supernatural acts, he lost his appeal. Sad. What I luved so much about Mr Mercedes was the lack of supernatural. Made it more real. More terrifying. Should have stuck the course.

I haven't read end of watch because i have to wait 1 DAMN week for End of Watch to be released here in Philippines (so i rely in reviews that i did not actually sink in to myself a lot and probably will say "let's see my reaction once i handle the book"), but i am bit sad when Brady became different. As a Detective Fiction fan since younger days of my life, i love people like him (okay i'm a sick bastard for loving Brady and treating him as my Husband lol (and worse, being a two timer because i love Reverend Charlie Jacobs too)), but the transition makes me felt "what" or "what the hell?" But i bet the change would do something better for the trilogy. I really have high hopes on Mr. K and he never ever disappoint me.

And i'm bit happy when i read one of the book review and
and it give me a hint that one of my theory or pre-reading thoughts came true
and that pre-reading theory of mine is Brady just undergo and became a labrat for human experiment.
As a detective fiction fan, i can predict sometimes how hard-boiled detective fictions and Dteective fiction slash supernatural thriller work (i posted my pre-reading theory at my blog at Tumblr)

But still whatever Happens, Brady Hartsfield is still my personal favorite villain and my Evil cinnamon roll. And I'm still would be his *in Annie's Voice* number 1 fan.

I dubbed this loser Shady Fartsfield. :D
Have you read Finder's Keepers?

I found it interesting that he is now in a "loony bin" ;;D(excuse the terrible word) or a mental health facility, apparently in a catatonic state but I wonder if he will make a reappearance later?

Don't tell me though, as I have not started End of Watch yet :)

Okay, I'm late to the party here, I hope you still check this post but I'm right on board with you! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Brady Hartsfield, to the point of having some rather unseemly fantasies about him <blush>. I think of him as the thought bubble over everyone's head: "I want chawww-klit!" the little boy brays. "And I want it with springles!" You got it, you fatass little creep, Brady thinks. Who among us hasn't thought things like that? Lol And then he puts on his charming act: "You got it, little buddy. One chocolate with sprinkles coming right up. How was school? Get any As?" Everyone, whether they admit it or not, has had mean thoughts, has silently verbally abused someone, has pictured smacking the **** out of someone, or shoving them, running them over with their cars, and of course we usually don't act on them. I'm not defending what he did, but I can understand how he got to that point. Stephen King is so gifted at giving every character a unique and true voice, it's hard to not love some of his antagonists as much or more than the protagonist. I harbor hope that Brady was somehow able to find another drone and will make another appearance.

Thank you!

I love Brady! I just do. And I've often said about myself that it's a good thing nobody can see the thought bubble above my head or I'd be getting my ass beat daily. ;-D

Hello everyone!

This post might be unpleasant, and it is a little long.

I am sort of a fangirl of Brady. I feel terrible about his life, and there's lust. He's in some of my nightmares. They always involve murder in some way, whether I find out what he did and tell on him, I warn someone he's after them, or he's got me cornered. Some of them are perverted, but never romantic. Everyone reading this has probably noticed a good amount of women gushing over real or fictional criminals. Hybristophilia is the sexual attraction to violent or dangerous people. There are two types: passive and aggressive. Passive is excited by someone else's crimes, but they have no desire at all to take part in them. They would never participate in any way. Aggressive is the opposite. They are aroused by someone's cruelties, and they want to be involved. They will do awful things with their partner, hide evidence or destroy it, lie for them, clean everything up, manipulate people, even lure victims in for him to beat, rape, or murder. They will also plan crimes for the person, and some will try to persuade them to do things. Hybristophilia is not well known. While many people are aware of women liking bad guys, most don't know the term for it, or why it occurs. This fetish is also a psychological disorder, and it is specific to females. Like with the majority of fetishes ending in "philia", this one has a negative reputation, and people should try to keep it hidden. Some Hybristophiliacs lose their relatives, partner, friends, reputation, or job over it. Many who talk about it with strangers or acquaintances are told they are insane or disgusting, and it keeps them from making new friends. Those who talk about it online, are harassed and reported often.

Why does Hybristophilia happen?
There are numerous reasons, I will list them from my least favorite to favorite.

Abused as a child: Some say that these women were mistreated as kids, so they grow up used to abuse, and they think it is normal.

Dad issues: Similar to above. The woman has a horrible Dad, or an absent one, and it damages her esteem. She seeks out cruel men to try to cope.

Bored with life: She doesn't feel fulfilled, and she thinks dating a cruel, mentally ill, or evil man will fix it.

Insecure: She has no self love or respect, so she aims low and clings to a criminal.

Empathy and compassion: She feels great empathy and care for others. She sees the criminal as a victim, and she wants nothing more than to support him, and do what she thinks is helping.

Nature: In ancient times, men had to hunt animals and sometimes kill other humans to survive. It isn't necessary now. I think the primal part of some women's minds confuse aggression, insanity, or evil with masculinity. Criminals are usually cunning, manipulative, forceful, and determined. These can help people get ahead in life, which can equate to a man hanging survival skills. Plenty of women lust for killers. This is because the act of taking lives tells her primal, subconscious mind that he has control and power, and he is able to protect himself and them, if they were together. It has been proven that women are attracted to the Dark Triad, Cunning, Narcissism, and Psychopathy/Sociopathy. Sociopaths and Psychopaths who do choose crime, usually end up getting lots of mail, and women fight over them.

I am a passive Hybristophiliac, and an Empath. I am enamored with one real killer, and Norman Bates as well. (The novel version, movie, and tv) Again, with Brady, I don't have any warm and fuzzy feelings. There's only lust, empathy, and pity. I know firsthand about losing people over speaking my mind, and being hated online. I knew they would happen, but I don't like hiding things, I see it as deceitful. If any of you who see this are attracted to any real of fictional criminals, I hope you don't tell people you know. It will be easier if you avoid being labeled as sick, and having people walk out of your life because they think it means you are evil, and you will hurt someone.

Hybristophilia is the sexual attraction to violent or dangerous people.

This is why murderers like the Menendez brothers have wives.

There are a few of us here who are fascinated by serial killers and the like. I don't believe any of us have anything to this degree, however. We are just interested in the psychology of Jack the Ripper, H.H. Holmes, Ted Bundy and so forth.

I been reading about that lady with the surname of 'Ray' that stalked David Letterman and the astronaut, one time she was found sleeping on someone's tennis court, another time she walked 50 miles to get to the astronaut's place, I think it was, she ended up committing suicide in Colorado in a very gruesome manner. I also been reading about the mass murderer at Virginia Tech who killed 33 people, the South Korean student. The woman one had about 5 children. I bought this two-pack true-crime books for ten dollars at the Post Office, one's about stalkers and the other's about mass murderers. Brady is terribly misunderstood because he likes his mum or it's a bit both ways. I think liking your'e mum too much is no good, because you can become bitter towards woman because you didn't get tough love. I think why people like true-crime books is because it's real and people can't understand how or why they do stuff like that, like there's something missing. I do believe that sometimes the devil touches someone, but shrink's think it all stems from conflict of personality/psychosis.
