Realize I'm late to the party here, but yesterday, at the rather passionate suggestion of my two best friends, I ordered book 1 of the dark tower series. I'm very very very excited about this venture, and plan on reading the whole series, then venturing out into other King works. I've never read any of his work, but have seen several movies/miniseries. Any advice would be appreciated greatly.

Book one is the Gunslinger - it's a bit different than the rest of the books.

If you find it's not your cup of tea there are about 50 others to choose from. I like 11/22/63, but Joyland is also good, Duma Key, the short story collections etc.

Go to the part of the SK website called the Library to see a complete listing.

Eyes of the Dragon is sort of like a fairy tale. Another good one is On Writing which is a good read even if you don't want to become a writer.
