Just finishing Revival, I enjoyed it but have a question. If the healed of Rev Danny are having visions of the hideous afterlife...why would so many commit suicide? It just seems out of reason. Oh my what happens after we die is soooo bad I need to die immediately? I LISTENED to the David Morse version did not read so maybe I am missing some explanation I am hoping maybe one of you guys may have.

I just assumed they were so messed up from what the Rev did to them that they could no longer reason for themselves. Also, I would assume when one has reached the limits of their sanity, the only immediate answer is to end it all: death. There's no taking time out to be pragmatic.

As I read it, the only people who had that vision of the afterlife were Jacobs and Jamie, and the impression I got about the suicides was what's been said, that suicide was a kind of side effect like the other forms of death.

I think I need to reread it. Want to say karma...or something...or maybe someone or some thing called to them and they heeded that voice.
