I am still setting things up but hope to have the downstairs part done by the end of this weekend. No big surprise that the 4-6 weeks that the contractor told me turned into 3-1/2 months so it wasn't finished by them until a couple weeks ago. Once they were done, I then installed the flooring and baseboards (still finishing those up) on those 3-day weekends I took in July as that's the only blocks of time I had and now it's moving everything in so it's a bit of a disaster zone at the moment.

I have been taking pictures of the progress and will share more later but the yarn/weaving area is the closest to being fully set up so here's a preview from a couple angles. Really should have moved the trash bag and taken another picture but will do that later when I'm finally done. The "disaster zone" is on the other side of the room behind the hutch and bookcase (you're seeing the back of that).

Recently I started making an afghan out of granny squares (crochet) - just picked up a crochet hook and some yarn at the Dollarama.

Started off with yellow, purple and a sort of aquamarine blue. Someone told me it looked a bit like an Easter egg. So recently I tried to tone it down a bit by buying some black yarn and a much darker purple.

Still working on how to piece it all together and I'll attempt to post a picture here one of these days. - It gives me something to do with my hands on the shifts where I have to work until 10 or 11 p.m.

My mom used to do the final round in black, then use a crochet hook to piece it together with black.

There are a few different ways to join granny squares and motifs. Last winter when I thought I would make a pancho from granny squares, I found this method I liked.

Looks good - currently I just use a large darning needle and sew them all together - thanks!
