Yes,
I loved this stocking. Counted cross stitch seems so intricate and time consuming but the results are just beautiful. Love that AnnaMarie.
very time consuming. But I enjoy it. The problem I had with this one is the pattern is quite old, and some of the supplies are no longer available. There is a substitute, but I have to order by mail, and comparing colours on-line is not a good idea.

In the end, I'm happy with the result though.

Is the ability to upload pics from your computer to posts a thing of the past? Do I need to move my pics to an image hosting service like PhotoBucket?
Oops, nope my bad--Jordan has left this message concerning photo uploads:

If you have an image on your computer that you'd like to put in your post, click the "Upload a File" button below the editor (between "Preview..." and "More Options..." This will allow you to upload the image. Once it is uploaded, select "Full Size" to show the full-sized image within your post or "Thumbnail" to show a clickable thumbnail within your post.

I had completely missed that button! :a11:

Here, there and everywhere.
Dana Jean - I also like to attempt to recreate things by crafters/artists. When I was in Alaska this summer, there was a little shop that had the cutest/creepiest thing. I searched around on google, but couldn't find anything close, so I'll post a pic of something kinda like them, then tell you how they were different. They were candle holders made out of an old baby doll head mold.

The ones in the shop were much better than the ones above. First of all, they were made from mud that had been allowed to dry. Then the artist put bits of gold leaf and/or green moss here and there. She didn't paint the eyes in, so the babies look like they're sleeping. And she used votive candles, not tapers. I've been searching eBay for a baby head mold!

AnnaMarie... your stockings are sooooo beautiful. They have like a vintage appearance which I love!

Dana... I'll bet you get tired of people asking where you bought your flamingos lol. They're very impressive!

Susan... Those doll head candle holders are very creepy... very very very creepy... creepier than those scull candleholders in old horror movies even. I like them! I'll bet SK would like them too lol

I bought the plastic flamingo bodies at a garden shop, and then I added the gems.

Go to a Goodwill or similar and find old dolls. I saw a doll head craft not long ago but they just made them look like stone and added plaster of paris inside so they were heavy, they were paperweights. Very cool.

No, they were gold leafed, not stone. Check this link.

Thanks everyone. :)

Anna Marie you work so fast! I wish I could do that. Do you have one of those hands free stands?

Everything you do is so beautiful.

No. I do have a quilt frame, but it fits in my lap, and small things don't fit well in it. I can do a stocking in it, but I prefer to roll it around the cardboard inside a paper towel roll and hold it that way.

And I usually have more then one picture on the go at a time. I currently have part of my next stocking done ( an outdoor winter scene) and am searching for material for another....either a Santa or bears, depending what I find.

And I must get back to my quilt.

<giggle>

she thinks she can quilt. It remains to be seen.

When I quit smoking I decided to be childish and reward myself. My reward was quilting supplies. I had always wanted to learn, but couldn't justify the cost. Once I spent the money, I would have felt way to guilty if I had a cigarette. But, I haven't actually finished a quilt yet. But, everyone that finds out I 'm making one wants it. They have faith in me, lol
