Hey friends
Can any of you guys help jog my memory? I watched a film literally yonks ago and I can't remember what it's called! So here's the premise:
A literary agent is sent to a creepy New Hampshire town to make contact with a horror writer who has recently been radio silent with his publishers, despite much success with his books. He takes his girlfriend on the drive and on the journey there, they hit a cyclist (she's driving while the agent is sleeping) alarmed, she stops and sees if the cyclist is okay. He quickly alights his bicycle and pedals off. She starts driving again and the same cyclist passes by her again! After a double take she sees the cyclist pedal past yet again but this time he's really old and weird-looking. Then they get to the covered bridge in which its all gets a bit weird an creepy and there's floorboards shaking and the sky's on the floor etc. But this sequence is quick and suddenly they're in the actual town. Then they check into a hotel and the receptionist is dead creepy and after giving them their room key, the camera pans down to her ankle, to which a naked old man is handcuffed! He's moaning on the floor. That evening the agent nips downstairs and catches a glimmer of the creepy hotelier and we see the silhouette of her slashing away at tentacles writhing out of her abdomen. In the morning some eery children are loitering in the town but we follow the agent to the chapel in which the writer is supposedly hiding out. In the church the crucifixes are all upside down and wonky and the writer is very sinister and then I can't remember any more..... Can anyone help me identify this film? It's been on my mind for 23 years....
