She certainly did not find it as funny as I did!!! hahah but man reading SK's books is such an awesome experience!! I actually didn't read any books whatsoever for pleasure my whole life until my mid twenties or so, I had bought a few books here and there throughout my life but never read more than a handful of pages before quitting on reading, that was until i finally settled in and read my first book ever which was SK and PS's Black House, it was such a fulfilling experience and I immediatley realized what i had been missing out on my whole life!!! I still to this day remember the closure and awesome feeling I had at the end of the book where it says something about how you took so many rides on the back of the crow, or bird, i dont remember exactly what you "ride" in the book but i distinctivley remember thinking that i agreed that all those rides were alot of fun and this was amazing, ever since then ive been a "constant reader" !!! I read probably about 10-12 of his books in a row after that but then it was probably a few years ago i fell off the reading wagon and stopped reading again and then i picked up 11/22/63 after my cousin gave it to me when he was done, it was slow going for me to get back into it and over this past summer i took it with me on our family week vacation down the beach and i read the whole time and was reminded how awesome reading is, since i finished that i immediatley bought and read doctor sleep, then re read IT, and now just got through dark tower 1-4, taking a break and doing insomnia!! Sorry for the rant and this doesnt have anything to do with the thread really, its really just how passionate i am about reading again!!! and IT was my first re read of any book i've read and i was pleasantly surprised how much fun it was, i never understood why you would re read a book if you know what happens but honestly i enjoyed it more the second time around because it just seemed to flow alot smoother since i had an idea of what was going to and what was happening that made it a much more fluid experience!!! I love it!! And now that im back in derry in insomnia im having a ball!!!

Insomnia is the perfect example of an sK I need to reread, not because I didn't like or get it the first time, but because when I read it I was a relative newbie, having read The Shining, Misery, Desperation, and Bag of Bones, among possibly a couple of others; Insomnia seemed very variant to me. Now that I've been exposed to much of the whole of sK's mind I think Insomnia will be a much greater experience for me the second time through. Alas, that won't happen for quite a while as I've got some serious catching up to do, having become a CR so late in life. :(

I liked this one quite a bit, thought I've noticed the same thing as TN--people seem to love it or hate it. Atropos was one of Mr. King's creepiest characters, IMHO. The only thing that bothered me was that the music the main character listened to was anachronistic--I'm of the character's generation, and it didn't fit. Pish posh, though--It was an absorbing story anyway :)

And VL, I had the same reaction with THE STAND, years ago. It took me three tries to get past the opening chaps, but once I did... WOW. In my top 5 of all books ever.
I hated the first release of the stand. There were some outstanding chapters, but overall, one of my least favorite books. When they went back and added the 400 pages back in, I loved it.

Hey Blunt - better late than never. I read SK back in the 70s and 80s but then fell off the bandwagon so it feels good to have sort of "rediscovered" him in the last few years. It's never too late to become a Constant Reader. :reading: (cheeky monkey) :biggrin2::laugh:

Man, i need to go back and try this one again. It's the only King book that i never made it past the 3rd chapter. It bored the sh*t out of me.

After i put it down for the third or fourth time, i thought........maybe i've got this all wrong..... maybe it's not actually a novel called Insomnia! Maybe it's a cure. :sweat_more:
I FELT SIMILARLY WHEN I FIRST STARTED READING IT. IT DEFINITELY HAS A SLOW START, HOWEVER ONCE YOU GET PAST THE BEGINING IT HEATS UP FAST, THERE WERE TIMES THAT I COULD BARELY PUT IT DOWN, AND IT HAS BECOME ONE OF MY FAVORITE READS! IT'S WELL WORTH IT! :)

Meaning... it is stuck on permanently? It's just a bit annoying that's all--feels like you're shouting at us. If it is broken though, then I guess we'll get past that. (I do like to hear from, just don't want to cover my ears. :biggrin2: )
I don't mean to come across as YELLING, please FORGIVE me for that. This Acer is a P.O.S. & I'm NOT the BEST typist anyway(I'm a Hunt & Pecker), it just seemed EASIER & FASTER if I leave it on, the same as I do on Facebook, but since it IRRITATES you guys & since I LIKE you all, I guess I'll try to do without it. Just don't EXPECT a QUICK response, as I'm FASTER with it on. :)
