Anyone know how far out till we get an announcement from CD on the next in the Double Day years - The Shining! I seriously want to get one of the Signed Editions this time seeing as I have already missed out on the first two (but at least got the Gift Editions)!

Well, I get notifications before others about some items. kingricefan can maybe speak more to this.
Yes, indeed. I do get email notifications from them regarding new books, not just King books. I do know that if you purchase a certain membership with them, they will give you advance notice on items days before it goes out to the 'regular' folk. I have not purchased this membership from them, so I don't know how many days in advance the notices come out. As far as I know I am on their regular email list, so I get them at the same time as everyone else (excluding those who have bought that above-mentioned membership).

It's going to be tough getting one of the signed editions as most of those 'slots' have probably been filled. CD lets the owners of the numbered books purchase the identical number of the newest book(s) when it/they are announced. So, I own #286 of the CD edition of Carrie, therefore I will be able to buy the same number in the other King novels in this Doubleday series. I also own #286 of the limiteds of The Shining, Doctor Sleep, It and others, so I guess this is my number for King books. Donald M. Grant, publisher of The Dark Tower limiteds, did/does the same thing. I just got an email from CD today stating that they're down to around 10 copies of 'Salem's Lot, so if you haven't already ordered one you'd better get on the ball!

Dang. So basically no one but previous customers ever have a shot at getting a signed copy? I was only able to get Gift Editions of Carrie and Salem's Lot.
Please keep in mind that the signed editions aren't signed by King, only the illustrators. Well, unless you're shelling out a couple of thousand for the lettered editions (which, trust me, are all pre-bought), but who has that kind of money? Not I, said the fly. I feel your pain, I've been there, way back in the 80's when I got on the King limited bandwagon and was late doing it even back then. I missed out on some prime limiteds (The Talisman, Skeleton Crew, Christine, Danse Macabre, Firestarter), most of which I can't get because they're way out of my budget. I have been able to get a couple of these in recent years by being patient and watching, watching, watching Ebay and abebooks.com. I started small, by buying what we now call the 'gift' editions or the 'artist' editions. It's going to take time and lots of $ to be able to get limiteds of King's novels.

Yeah, I am in the same boat. Rather mine is more like a small inner tube floating way downstream from everyone else. I moved on from BCEs to trying to get really good condition FEs. Once I started seeing a marginal price difference for some of the Gift Editions or Artists Editions that became my focus instead of just FEs. So I have no illusions about ever getting Lettered Editions. Unless I win the lottery. So naturally I was just hoping that moving forward I would be able to pre-order the Artist signed of the upcoming DD Years directly from CD. Yes, eBay and Abe have been good friends of mine as well. Ultimately I am just working on having a very complete a nice collection. Not necessarily all Signed by SK. What do I look like - some SK fanatic spending countless hours everyday in the SK forums?! Wait ... nevermind.

The Artist editions should be do-able for you. In my opinion, there's generally not much difference between an Artists edition and a signed edition. Lately publishers seem to want to have different dustjackets for the Artist and the signed edition, making the true King completist's mind explode.......;-D Seems like one is paying an extra couple to a few hundred dollars more for what is essentially an autograph.

Will this edition with the prologue eventually be available in mass market, or is a limited edition like this not usually ported over to such a product? Also, was the prologue ever published before? I remember there was an issue of TV Guide (I think) that featured either the prologue or the epilogue. Which brings up another question: will we get the epilogue at some point? I used to know about all this, but I'm afraid I've forgotten how the prologue/epilogue situation was described.

Wow - almost $300 for the "artist" edition. I actually prefer the cover on the $95 gift edition. I'm sure they will sell out even at those prices though. The market for all things King is ridiculous at the moment. My theory is that his fan base is now in their 40s and 50s and at the height of their purchasing power. So everything sells.

Pre ordered mine a couple of weeks ago. It's going to be a heck of a wait, but it certainly looks gorgeous. I can't wait to finally be able to read the Prologue.

Rrty, limited edition only, no port to trade edition.
