I had to hang the outside Christmas decorations on Sunday. Almost burned down the house. Have since found out from the electrician that apparently you should never pull an extension cord out of an outlet if a heater is attached and running. ALWAYS TURN THE HEATER OFF FIRST! Sparks were flying all over the place and the GFI outlet burned up. After that ordeal I told the wife I wanted to do the outside decorations exactly like this...

I said it was festive, minimalist, funny, and a perfect representation on my attitude towards Christmas decorations. Some plywood, paint and one string of lights... Wallah!

I got ‘The Look’ from her and had to spend 6 hours putting up all our outdoor decorations. :(

Thanks - I will have to remember this in the future

Today I am doing some Christmas cards (yes somehow or other I ended up procrastinating)
:rolleyes::facepalm_smiley:

No tree up yet either

We went to our town's Christmas parade on Saturday night. Few pics from that.

Then we drove thru the Festival of Lights, it is set up at a huge park and you drive thru. Ali took these pics, just a couple of the many many displays. We are going to go back thru soon, we missed the finale because it was super busy and no more room to park. FB_IMG_1576008133810.jpgFB_IMG_1576008142464.jpg

That was really terrific. First, I want to make styrofoam heads. I've done life masks after watching a documentary on Death Masks. THat was cool and I still have my son's life mask hanging on my wall. Not really sure what I would do with a bunch of styrofoam heads, but, whatever. They could be my friends. bwhahaha!

Second, the manpower that went into that light show. The creativity. I loved it. And I really loved when they lit the windows like stainglass, so pretty!

It was fun! I even waved at Santa at the end. I know he saw me! :applause:

Here is another cute picture from the parade. Ali and her friend got a hug from the Fox. He is the radio station mascot.

Oh, I love that. I would've hugged that Fox too. How did her teeth thing turn out?

We just had it rebuilt the same as it was before. So the dentist adjusted the size, it is a bit smaller than her other front tooth but not terribly noticeable. :)

They had some newfangled machine too, where Ali didn't even need a shot in her gums to numb her first. The machine used laser beams and cold water to numb. Pretty cool!

My oldest daughter, the politician, started up what has now become a tradition where she lives… ‘Christmas in the Park.’ They get live Christmas trees and people adopt and decorate them. The first year started out in 2016 with 75 trees. It has grown over the years to now encompasses a second park and there are 130 trees this year. It’s popular amongst the folks there and brings in tourism. There are three days dedicated to decorating and is quite the social event, I hear. She’s a little pissed that some surrounding towns have copied her idea and steal tourism from her jurisdiction.

She certainly didn’t get her Christmas spirit from me.

Got a cool Christmas present for the wife. It’s a framed ‘Stephen King Scratch Off Books’ poster for his 90 published novels. When you read a novel you scratch off the labeled gold block and it reveals an actual picture of the novel. Since she’s already read everyone she’s now starting a reread of his books so I thought she’d like this. I figure it would make a nice conservation piece hanging on the wall next to the bookcase and it looks great and classy.

Actually, no I didn’t because such a poster doesn’t exist. I did order her a poster like this for 100 classic novels (I looked but there’s not one for Stephen King novels). I figured it helps for future presents as I can just get her classic books yet to be read. But it would be cool if King did license something like this to someone… hint, hint. ;):)
