Can't say I enjoyed "The Pearl" by John Steinbeck, my mom really likes "Of Mice and Men" so maybe I'll give that a try sometime
I haven't liked the majority of Jane Austen's novels, especially Persuasion and Mansfield Park. They are so boring and unreadable, to me at least.
That was my experience too. Maybe finding a good translation is the challenge? I don't know.
