Well obviously they were copying King, not the other way around, as the King book was out way before Avatar. We did see Avatar at the Imax Theatre and it was just awesome on that huge screen with surround sound. Plus it was in 3D so we actually went to see it twice.
Oh yeah, for sure - my paperback of The Stand from 1987 had that cover. Avatar was decades later (and I still haven't seen it).

Unfortunately they have had to close our Imax Theatre here in Winnipeg due to poor attendance which is a shame.
Oh man! That's too bad. I love the Imax. Our's in the museum in town and they only show non-fiction/documentaries, but that's fine by me because we love them. We try to get over there to see all the new ones.

Documentaries? Wow - that must be supported by some educational institution or some such thing. We saw "Shine a Light" with the Rolling Stones and another one in 3D about underwater creatures. I like the 3D ones where you feel like you are flying or skiing - you actually feel like you are lifting right out of your seat.

...i thought that only happened to me! So weird and so true!

Over Christmas vacation i had picked up Skeleton Crew and read 'The Monkey'. Two days later i'm standing on line at the Deli and the guy behind me asks his friend,

"Which King book was that Monkey story in?"

"Skeleton Crew." His buddy answers.

"You sure?" The first guy asks.

"Yeah." His buddy answers again.

"Seriously? You remember that?"

"Dude.... the book has a picture of an F'ing monkey on it clanging some cymbals. YEAH, i'm SURE."

My eyes must have been the size of saucers...

and.... welcome to the boards!!

Well, I bet it's like the ones you've seen - sharks and volcanoes and such - things that look amazing in Imax.

Welcome to the board! This was my first and only years ago and I never left! (Or if I did I always came back!) It's a great place. You'll love it.
