Thanks for the title change, FlakeNoir !

So, to continue my rambling, Eva isn't exactly what you would call a standard Ringwald protagonist. While obstinately on the side of good, she struggles with inner demons and is more than a few seconds from snapping, unlike more sensible characters like Claire Standish from The Breakfast Club. She also isn't bombastic or campy like Ringwald's portrayal of Fran in The Stand. She's mostly stoic, but there is torment underneath.

So, I wrote the first page of a short story today. I wanted to do at least five pages, but some days, you can't accomplish all of your goals.

My dream cast for a Redesigning Eva movie if it were made nowadays...

Eva Elliot, sickly girl turned superhuman profiler- Chloe Grace Moretz
Klaus Krieger, convicted serial killer and psychopathic prodigy- Asa Butterfield, because you can't have a great villain without a British actor.
Holden Elliot, Eva's bumbling alcoholic psychologist dad- Mike Myers in a dramatic role.
Brian Hicks, a school journalist caught up in all of this- Dylan Sprayberry
Cheryl Elliot, Eva's dead mother- Molly Ringwald, of course.
Lilith Grant, the serial killer Eva pursues- Miranda Cosgrove
Jonathan Jordache, a sleazy and cocaine-addled corporate executive who plans to profit from Krieger's experiment- Paul Reubens, in a somewhat dramatic turn.
Vincent Grant, Lilith's wealthy father- Peter Gallagher

Another uneventful day. I hope to have my current short story, The War of the Worm, done by the end of the week. I actually have a whole slew of short story ideas lined up. Looks like 2016 might shape up into a good year for my passion.

Been so busy with school lately that I haven't gotten much done. I'm still working on the short stories. I've mostly been writing on my typewriter, because I get distracted so easily when on a computer.

I think I'm starting to write more on Microsoft Word. I'm still going to be using the GX-6750 typewriter. Why let the ribbons and correction tape I bought go to waste?

I can't wait to write some this weekend. I'm feeling much better about it, emotionally. I just have one more paragraph and citations to add to my research paper for my Human Growth and Development class. Also, I'm really digging what I've got so far on the new drafts of Alphaboy and Redesigning Eva. The prose is significantly more eloquent and flows better. I've still got some short stories to churn out, too!

Done with my research paper. I've also decided to stick to writing fiction on my typewriter.

Here's a list of the stuff I'll be keeping myself busy with during the summer, as well as the later part of the year.
  • A second draft of Redesigning Eva.
  • A second draft of Alphaboy.
  • Three new novel first drafts, Adam Lansing, McCabe and A Boy Called Wolf.
  • Two stageplays for my drama teacher from high school.
  • At least a dozen short stories.
  • A screenplay for my dear friend, director Albert Pyun.
Sounds crazy, I know. But I can do this.

I don't know much about the plot of McCabe, but I know that the main inspiration for it was a picture I drew. It had Molly Ringwald, of all people, toting a shotgun, an assault rifle with a grenade launcher attachment and laser sighting, two pistols, two submachine guns, assorted grenades, a combat knife and a bag containing a rocket launcher.

Tonight, I've started work on outlines for the second drafts of Eva and Alphaboy, as well as McCabe. I've decided to change the titles of A Boy Called Wolf and Adam Lansing to Wolf Yeager and Adam Awakens, respectively. McCabe has been on the noggin for the past couple of days, so its outline may come at a higher priority than Redesigning Eva and Alphaboy.

As I mentioned, the exact plot of McCabe eludes me at the moment, but I am aware that the titular character, Shana McCabe, is a former CIA operative, an expert in guerilla warfare, interrogation, demolition, assassination, and infiltration. I'll find out more as I brainstorm and outline, but already, I'm getting vibes of the Rambo film series.

Finished the first page of McCabe a few minutes ago. I like it so far, and I'll see where this story takes me. I'm better off not outlining; I find the process constrictive, creatively.
